Has anyone done a Samsung Trade up before when purchasing a new TV? Does it have to be working and can you trade up using a PC monitor?

Thanks.

    Broken Appliances Accepted
We accept appliances from most brands, even if it's old or damaged.

By proceeding to purchase and take advantage of this promotion, you accept the following: The trade in discount you receive is an incentive to recycle and to purchase a new Samsung appliance, monitor, speaker or television; it is not a trade-in value for the product you are recycling. Recycled products are non-returnable and have zero value. If you return the product you purchased for a refund (for any reason) you will not receive any amount or value for the product you recycle. You will be required to fully uninstall (including disconnecting and draining of water, or wiping all data, as applicable) your appliance, monitor, speaker or television and make sure it is ready for collection at the same time we deliver your new product. We reserve the right to refuse the delivery if you fail to do so. A surcharge equal to the amount of the discount you received will apply if you do not recycle or have your product ready for recycling. Each household may only recycle one of each type of product and will receive only one trade-up discount for each product type recycled.

You can trade in a washing machine. If your old washer still has water internally it can spill out while being loaded into the truck and be a hazard.

Keep in mind that Samsung are one of the most complained about companies to NSW fair trading -

    • It's also worth bearing in mind that the more products a company sells, the more complaints there naturally will be since there'll be many more products and customer interactions out there.

True - also worth reading through customer service experiences on Ozbargain.

I've ordered from Samsung directly twice and had issues with both orders. I've found Samsung to be awful to deal with and impossible to get through to someone who could or would fix issues. This seems to be a common theme across threads when people have issues.

I have also dealt with warranty once for a computer which was probably one of the better experiences.

YMMV. I probably would still shop there with a big enough discount, however, would prioritise other retailers.

When I purchase my G8 computer monitor there was an option to save $100 by trading in a old monitor. So I went into the depths of the cupboard and got out an old 15" 4:3 computer monitor that I only kept around for the VGA port, and used that. If you don't have one you can always score one at the local dump for free. Working or not, they don't care. They will never turn it on.
