Just curious, somehow I remember a game called "ass effect" instead of "mass effect". is my memory right???

    • Yes, also I think your game has better backward compatibility.

Report to the ship! We'll bang, ok?

They decreased the ass effect in the Legendary Edition.

Ass Life 3: ass effect, confirmed.

    • The robot lady had a booty, and the pilot was banging her or something.

It's a real pity this does not include a PC version.

FYI - this is included with GamePass Ultimate. The only advantage of purchasing is if your GPU expires or it's removed from the library you can still play it afterwards.

Having said that, it's a brilliant upgrade to the originals and it includes most of the DLC with only one or two missing (apparently some original files were lost or corrupted). Note that ME1 gameplay isn't any better because it's still built on an older game engine, but the graphics are nicer. ME2 and ME3, though, are definitely improved.

    • Is ME1 worth a play-through, or would you recommend starting with ME2?

To me that's like asking if you should skip The Fellowship of the Ring.
You should absolutely start the trilogy at the start, it's one incredible, story focused journey.

I started with mass effect 2, knowing nothing about mass effect 1 and I had a blast. The game's tutorial kinda introduces you to the word in a clever way. You can try mass effect 1, sure, but I found it extremely bullet spongey. You are expected to manage your inventory of weapons, grenades and armor which all look the same (Avenger I, Avenger II, Avenger III etc). A lot of the environments are "dungeon" like- identical hallways, back-tracking, a boss at the end etc. I personally didn't think the story was that great either; it's boilerplate sci fi for the most part. Mass effect 2 on the other hand has less galaxy wide plot, and focuses on dramatic episodes of character analysis on your huge cast of squadmates. If you like telltale games, or anything character driven, I think you would prefer ME2.

I know i am in the minority with this opinion, but you can honestly skip the first one if you find it annoying like me, and watch/read a summary. I have actually played it through 2 times, and I can barely remember anything from it. ME2 and 3 however I can basically retell word for word. There is so much variation in environments, mission types, characters, music etc which really just makes them stick in your mind.

        ME1 is probably my favourite

      • ME1 does show its age in some areas (not graphically, but more in game play)…
I feel like I had fun replaying me1 but, not sure how much that applies to someone who havent played 1 in the past (feel like nostalgia is making me more positive about the game than i would normally be)

      • Everyone has a different opinion (as is evident here) but one of the really defining features of the ME series is decisions you make early on will follow you through the entire series. So, while the gameplay may be underwhelming by modern standards in ME1 a playthrough will add a lot of flavour to the other two games that you might miss out on otherwise.

I started with me2 after the Eb games guy told me it was meh gameplay with an ok story. And i played through me2 and it was good. Went back to me1 after and it wasnt as bad as the guy made it out to be. It was actually really good getting context for things. Definitely recommend starting at at me1 now its remastered

  • Great value, Citadel DLC alone is worth the play through.
