I've been eyeing these for a while. Not an all-time low (which was $349 back in Sep 2023) however this is the lowest it's been in a year.

Unsure if these will get even cheaper during Black Friday deals, but personally I'm in no rush and I'll probably wait it out and see before pulling the trigger. Great price for those who want to grab a pair now.

The Technics AZ80s are pretty underrated IMO - been watching many "middle end" earbud reviews (the real top of the line stuff is in a whole other league) and these are very competitive against all the other big name earbuds out there (Bose QC2, Sony XM5, Jabra Elite, Nothing Ear, AirPods Pro if you are on iOS, etc.).

Easily one of the best sounding earbuds money can buy. Easily outperforms sonys, jabraas, boses etc.

    • I originally bought denon perl pro's and the fit of those were terrible and this had raving reviews so picked up a pair and they're the best in ears i've used

      • Yep, Really comfy, great battery life, decent sound.the good reviews really arent an exageration.

Technics sounds like aldi special buys or ali/kogan rebrand

    • They are owned by Panasonic

How young are you? Technics was a massive name in hi-fi in the 70s-90s, along with Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo, etc. The SL-1200 turntable is still well known.

There maybe some wisdom in his youth… I too have doubts these are the uncompromising audio giants of last century. Yes, they may still be under Panasonics parent company but I got a suspicion it is a rebrand too. I think it likened to Nakamichi of this century (sold in Supercheap Auto and disgraceful) , as opposed to Nakamichi of last century (one would do anything to have a Dragon back in the day lol)

Significantly better than the Sennheiser TW Momentum 4 buds?

  • Picked up a pair in September for 329NZD while on holiday there. Have been absolutely blown away and pretty must instantly offloaded my xm5s. These are just equal or better in every way.

    • Consarnit I just bought some xm5s. This is over bluetooth? These comments leave me tempted to return them, I got that deal from the other day for $315 or so. Thanks

I bought one pair during the last Prime Day for $340. Not sure how low the price is historically. The sound quality is absolutely mind blowing. At the same time I got Sennheiser TW4 ($249) to comepare. Listening to the same music, I know straightaway I will return TW4. The sound from Technics 80 is much open, wider, clearer and more crisp. You feel you bring a Stereo HiFi Sound system with you when you wear it.

    • Can you return earbuds when they've been tried? If so where did you buy from?

      • For Sennheiser TW M4, I can return to Sennheiser online store or eBay store even after trying them.

        • Oh awesome, I bought from Sennheiser eBay so I might try them! Is there a policy that states change of mind return is ok even when product has been opened?

I bought them last week for $399. I wonder if Amazon would credit the difference…

Great pair. I previously owned these and was happy with them.
I will get a chance to compare them to the Sennheiser Momentum TW4 and a few different buds once they arrive

    • Hey did you end up opening them and comparing Technics vs Senn ?
If you haven't opened them, you can return them and re-buy, they are $340 now - 10% via Amazon GC

      • I have not opened them yet. I am thinking I should do since they are cheaper now.

I use a few buds atm and I am trying to make more effort to use the Senn first before I start to compare them.

What do you them (If you'd bought them already)?

        • I haven't bought the AZ80, Black Friday is officially still 6 days away so probably can stack more discounts/cashback :)

The TW4 is a definite improvement over the other 3 I have - Samsung Buds+, Buds 2 Pro, Jabra Active
Bit hesitant to spend another $340 on more earbuds though.

@payton: I know how it feels.

I have not tried the Buds 2 Pro or the Jabra (I have not heard many good things about the Jabra but I was close to pulling the trigger on them).

Compared to the Samsung buds, the AZ80 are an upgrade.
Compared Apple's AirPods pro, the AZ80 are not an upgrade

I have not played with the settings and EQ enough to form a good opinion on them. However, when it comes to multipairing, working on both PC/smartphones at the same time, and sound isolation (for the mic), the AZ80 are still not my go-to.

Will see how I go with them in the coming months.
