Good Time to Buy a Milwaukee Electric Screwdriver?

Looking at buying the Milwaukee electric screw driver kit, been waiting on a deal and wondering if it worth buying not via Total Tools for the bonus $100 but do not really understand how the extra credit works

Any advice on how the bonus credit or if you think I should wait for Black Friday.

The kit I'm looking at:

  • The T&Cs are on this page: https://www.totaltools.com.au/promotional-terms-and-conditio…
Note that "Milwaukee Coupon Codes must be redeemed in full within 48 hours from date of issue."

But anyway you need to spend minimum $499 and that kit is only $490.

    • yea i saw that but it shows as getting the promo and a lot of the ones with the banner for the promo are similar priced.

  • Jesus M. Christ… almost $500 for a cordless screwdriver? Do you have a shit load of Milwaukee gear already, or are you just buying in to impress someone else? It's a 12v kit, so you cant be using it to replace a roof. You're paying about $400 more simply because it is red and has "Milwaukee" logos stamped on it. Christ, even a Bosch Blue series is half the price of this. But it's blue, not red…

Bosch Blue 12v screwdriver AND 12v drill and 2 batteries for $265
    Makita 2 piece 12v kit $205

    • Agreed to an extent - if it's for around the house assembly jobs, get something half that price or less. But I have M12 impact driver for work and it is a beast. Again, not needed for home though

      • Yep, I just got the new 12v 3/8 impact. Had it removing 11L diesel head bolts the other day. This screwdriver is a rip off though.

    • ikea TRIXIG $59

    • doing major reno and a lot of diy stuff, i mostly have AEG but thinking about expanding to milkwaukee because of the tools aeg doesnt have, and want a screwdriver not impact/drill because i need something softer

You realise that you can limit the torque on a drill, then use it to drive screws? Just turn the torque limiting collar.

From my memory, it was like they would email you a code to be used on a certain brand after receiving your original order. That's why I usually go for the Sydney Tools promotion. Sydney Tools gives you points only to spend in-store regardless of whether you order online or in-store.

However, I am also curious to know OP's usage scenario. If I have to buy another screwdriver I am probably gonna wait for the next-gen of this:

    • mostly heavy reno/ diy, i've burned threw cheap brands and for some of my AEG tools i've managed to out use the warranty, as for borsch i've had nothing but bad experience with them in the last 2-3 years so not looking at it anymore.

thank yoou the how to code works was exactly what i was looking for, i think ill wait and keep and idea of the insterlation driver as that could also work but might be a little over powered for my use case.

  • Last I checked, $490 is less than $499, so that's your first hurdle. Secondly, $490 for an electric screwdriver is pretty excessive.

  • I recommend the M12 Surge. More versatile than the screwdriver.

already have a pair of aeg impact drivers, looking for something softer to not strip screw heads as much or for softer materials.

      • The Surge has 3 power speeds and I use low speed for small screws, flat pack furniture ect and it’s great. That being said, I do have a Vessel electric screwdriver but I do use the Surge a lot more.
