  • can this be attached to a 3-phase solar? does it have whole house backup?

    • Hi, Yes it can.
All information is in the description.

  • +2
  • Does this qualify for the rebate?
Is the inverter required if already have a pv system

    • Hi, Yes it does qualify.
Only Sungrow & solis Hybrid 3p inverters are compatible with the LG RESU

      • I have a 16H hanging off a SolarEdge.

one of the few combos thay have blackout protection (i.e kick in when the grid goes down).

does your option work when the grid is de-energised?
what I be talking of about this battery is theu guarantee it's at least 90% capacity after 10 years. and people like Wattever over on Whirlpool bang on like the batteries are worthless after 10 years, like a car when it runs out of warranty, it still functional.

Is this affected by the LG battery recall? Otherwise looks like a good deal

    https://www.lgessbattery.com/au/recall/serialcheck.lg

    • No, not affected.

    • yeah I keep getting ACCC letters from LG, but the 16H isn't on the list.

  • will the solis inverster work well with enphase microinverters?

    • I will ask a technician and come back to you during business hours tomorrow.

  • Not a huge guru on this, but from what I read, this does not include solar panel installation?

Having said that any deals going on solar installs? About to move to a new house West of Melbourne with no solar.

    • send us an email to [email protected] or call 1300882990 - happy to help with a solar quote

  • stackable to 2 units only?
does the system require to be grid connected?

  • Any smart features? Cant seem to find anything on integration or standalone.

    Costs for Canberra installation?

Battery chemistry is lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt, correct?
Is there any battery safety protection built-in?
For example: temperature sensors, high temperature pack and/or cell insulation, internal fire extinguisher and/or high-pressure release.

  • Will this work with SolarEdge Inverter? I have only 6.6kw panel and 5kw inverter 😂

    • I have a SE HDwave, & this battery. but you also need a SolarStor box and you'll need a SolarEdge qualified tech to set it up as there's programming to be done on your box & in the S E. backend.

Home batteries are still 3-4x more costlier than their vehicular counterparts.

Not enough competition in the market.

Someone on Ozbargain said in another thread that lots of Chinese companies are coming to the market early to mid next year. So if you trust Ozbargain comments, now isn't a great time to get a home battery.

      • Imo id trust a OzB over a cheap Chinese battery any day of the week 😅

If you want your house burn down, get LG battery.

    • +3

that's why I placed it against my neighbours fence

    • but do we first raise coverage of home insurance or would that look suspicious?

  • +2

Battery installers must be freaking out about cars being allowed to do V2H. They need to unload all their inventory before it depreciates in value because no one wants a wall battery

  • Can you please share the model of the Solis inverter

    • Solis S6-EH3P10K-H-AU (AS4777-2 2020) This inverter alone is worth $3000

      • So, do you replace old inverters? 🤔 When I installed my solar panels, the installer told me I can use an a/c couple battery.

  • -1

Elect bill is $150 per month
tooks 5 years for pay back plus it will degrade like my Iphone's battery
the solar panels cost too much as well
don't think it worths the investment

    • LG Warranty - 70% of battery after 10 years

    • +1

Not sure how the calculate is done, but assuming the best case scenario, 16kwh x 365 x 0.34 cents per kwh = $1985 saving on eletricity per year, it would take you 10 year to save $19850 (for the sake of simplicity I didn't factored in the future value of the money saved each year), about the same value of the initial cost of $10995 +10 year interest at 6%, a rough estimation if taking future value of the money saved into consideration is about 9 year to break even.

I still think if the battery is preparation for power outtage or just want to be greener, then go for it. Economic wise, it's not worth it for now.

      • a battery can be charged in off peak via certain retailers for free now, or at rates as low as 0.06c (discharge 2x if you're a heavy user) or you can sign up to a VPP take advantage of wholesale tariffs. different strokes for different folks, personally I wouldn't want a retailer discharging my battery for a higher tariff.

      • During the day time, the solar panels supply electricity to the household energy use. At night the battery does its job.
Therefore normally the household with solar panels and battery doesn't need to pay their bill (except the daily charge which doesn't make sense)

But I agreed it is not worth it.

  • So the installation is for the LG battery and solar-inverter but without the panels? I'm interested in why people buy this? Is it to offset peak-power consumption prices and grid-blackouts?

Also rep, what is the date of manufacture of the LG batteries?

FYI - Products must be registered with an internet connection to receive software updates, otherwise warranty is 5-years, not 10.
