  • thanks OP grabbed a family Q price matched at good guys.

    • Why did you choose the family q?

I am trying to work out which one to get.

  • Have they discontinued the Q2200?

    • +1

They've discontinued both the Q2000 and the Q2200. The newly designed webers released in 2023 have the N designation added to the number for the baby, standard and family sized models. The new design has different dimensions to the old and so accessories like carts etc,. are not interchangeable.

The difference between the Weber Q2000 and Q2200 in the old model was that the Q2200 had a higher domed lid, electronic ignition and a built in thermometer.

In the new N range there is the standard range BBQs (e.g. Q2000N) and the premium range (e.g. Q2800N+). There is no difference in dome height between the 2 models for each size in the new range but the + models distinguish themselves with an extra + (low output) burner, as opposed to a single burner, and includes a built in thermometer, electronic ignition and a few different colours apart from std black and red.

The marketing documentation says the additional burner on the Q+ models opens up new cooking possibilities, including high searing and low and slow cooking, which are not available on the single burner models.

  • Very happy with my Weber. I accidentally over tightened a new hose (completely my fault) and it snapped part of the gas regulator. They sent me out a new hose and regulator free of charge when all I wanted to know was the part number so I could buy it myself.

Might buy one of these as a Christmas present

I love my Weber Genesis E-330 gas BBQ, it’s the last Weber Genesis model I believe that wasn’t made in China. It’s a little over 8 years old now, and there’s a little bit of rust forming on 3 of the 4 burners, as well as the Flavorizer Bars and Heat Deflectors, but I believe this model has a 10 year warranty so Weber will likely replace these parts for free if I contact them sometime soon, and the BBQ will probably last me another 10 years (if the replacement parts are now made in China maybe not).

  • What do y'all reckon the chances are we'll see any retailer do a Weber 20% off for Black Friday or Chrissy?

    • I'm conflicted too… really want the Q2200N over the Q2000N. It's only $10 more expensive but has the electronic ignition and temperature gauge built in.

      Not available at Myer though…

    • Last year's Black Friday/New Year sales saw Weber stores offer an across the board discount of 10% compared to the licensed outlets like Myer/DJs/Good Guys etc. which offered 20%. (Good Guys are already flagging Black Friday sales for Weber BBQs on their website btw - but not saying how much).

So if you're after the models only offered in the Weber stores like the Q2200N you might be a bit disappointed. I guess its a sales tactic designed to protect Weber franchises.

FWIW - that temp gauge on the top of the Weber Qs is next to useless in terms of accuracy and functionality. I have one and never use it. The times for warm up in the guide book are more accurate and a decent meat thermometer is what you need to get your cooking times spot on.
