kinda odd buying a toothbrush from a phone shop; but that does seem like a deal, compared to shaver shop/chemist warehouse sale prices anyway.

Ignoring costs, anyone have thoughts on these high end older ones vs the lowest io3 which is a newer design? I know the brush head price is phenomenal. But clean-wise?

    • The main benefit for me would be longer battery life and shorter charge time. Be aware the iO3 still uses the same older style battery charger, so I'd personally wait for one of the higher iOs to go on sale

      • +3

I've been keeping an eye on the iO models because I want to get it for mum for xmas. iO7 was for $202 at chemist warehouse couple of weeks ago and I've seen the iO9 go on special for $309 last black friday.
Not sure if useful for anyone but fyi

        • The io9 is slightly more powerful in rotational spins vs the 9000. If you have the 9000 its not worth upgrading.

I bout 3 lots 9000 and would love to buy more to give to others. Its that good.

      • so is this the one with newer battery or older one ?. Any idea on how long the battery lasts for this model ?

        • This is the older model. The battery will last several years.

          • @eccaz: sorry.. i meant on single charge.. on one full charge, how many days of use before i have to recharge.. any idea ?

            • +1

@XedeX: Myself and my partner take it away with us on long weekends and don’t take a charger, so that’s probably 35-40mins of brushing, and it’s never gone dead (or red). I think ours is 3 years old.

              I’ve seen claims of 12 days of 2 mins/day, or 7 days of 4 mins/day.

          • @eccaz: Yep. Use it without charge for about 4-5 days.

I have had my older one for 2years and i dropped it too many times until it broke. I went and bought the 9000 again (in black).

        • Account for 10-14 days at 2 mins per brush

      • +1

I don’t know what you mean by this, but the io’s have different charging stands (chargers) to the previous generation (smart, genius, etc).

        • Have a look at the picture of the iO3. Won't link to Kogan, but google iO3 and you will understand. The other iOs indeed have a different style charger.

          • @Shon: So the io7-9 come with a magnetic charger, the io10 comes with a magnetic charger with a screen, and the io2-6 uses the older style charger, but this is largely cosmetic and doesn’t impact functionality.

i tried the io3 to try an io series, and i don't really like it. prefer the old style. the io doesn't really rotate, though they make out it does. it just vibrates. i would get this.

If you are using genuine heads, IO ones are twice as much as the old gen and also usually less functions on low end models compare to the top old gen model. I personally would rather buy 2 9000 model compare to IO3/5/6

      • +2

Does anyone actually use more than 1 function?

    • I bought mine 5 years ago and it is still working perfectly today. I can still get more than a week’s use from a single charge when travelling…incredible.

I was initially skeptical paying so much for a toothbrush (way more than this bargain price!), but the quality has definitely been worth it.

    • They’ll provide an almost identical clean.

    • This one doesn't even have a little OLED screen on it, or a clock in the dock.

  • +2

I think the iO brush heads always cost more?

    • Yes, heads for this model can be had for around $2.5 each, while I believe the io heads rarely get cheaper than $5 each.

  • Thanks Op

  • I bought the 2500 for $50 at Cole’s half price sale as it was the cheapest that had the pressure sensor which is the only feature I was looking for , for a gift 4xmas.

  • Great toothbrush been using mine since 2020 (Genius 10000) and still works great

  • I have the same toothbrush and mould has started to develop in the light fitting. It now oozes brown into the head. I cant use it anymore safely. I have asked oral b to help and they said i cannot take the toothrbush apart to clean it and it is out of warranty. They offered me a replacement handle for $100 but with no warranty.
I wonder if i should bite at this deal, or get the genius x?

    • Dammit! Now i regret not biting!! I thought it was a deal that was going to last!! :-(
And I even purchased an ebay plus membership for $10 for it!!

      • +2

Don’t worry, Black Friday is coming, there’ll be plenty more deals.

    • Here are instructions on how to easily dismantle the handle - https://toothbrushbattery.com/guides/braun-oral-b-genius-typ…

Mould is almost always due to user error. After each use, you should remove the head, and rinse both head and handle and dry the head and handle for maximum cleanliness and longevity.

  • Not sure what happened but as I checked out through PayPal, I was charged but eBay didn't pick up on the order. The code must've stopped working during this time. It's now expired.

  • +1

Grabbed one after ignoring the joke of a deal from shaver shop yesterday (genius 8500 for 130). Thanks.

    • 9000 is faster rotation than the 8500. I have the 9000 and my sis in law has the 8500 (pink)

  • As always, I'm late to the party.

    • Relax, there will be plenty more deals coming soon.

  • I had it in cart but didn't checkout. The error code ebay gives me is "the seller has made changes to the listing". You snooze you lose.
