Came to say that
Lucky I checked the comments. Do any of them support wifi ?
For what it's worth I have this integrated into Home Assistant via Bluetooth and then exposed to Alexa via cloud for voice activation - works a treat.
I didnt know home assistant can control bluetooth devices. If your phone is dead or your not home does it still work?
Yes, HA supports Bluetooth through an integration. You will need a dongle - see the linked page for supported adapters.
@Dinjay: Have tou had any issues with them? Delay to turn on with motion sensors.
@Jklaro: I mostly use Bluetooth for temperature sensors and currently have only one Bluetooth motion sensor - this sensor turns on a (z-wave) strip light through HA. I haven't noticed any delay for my purposes. I use a 0.5m extension leads to connect the Bluetooth and z-wave dongles to reduce the chance of interference/noise, but everything worked fine even without the extension leads.
I have read forum posts complaining that the delay from a Bluetooth dongle is noticeable, but then there are also complaints about delays from wifi, z-wave and zigbee. The cause is probably local environmental conditions like signal noise, so there's probably no one fix - you just have to try and see if there are any problems in your local environment. Also, it seems that using a Bluetooth proxy might fox Bluetooth issues.
Which lights did you integrate specifically? I have H617A (the ones from this post) and haven't found any way to get them working with homeassistant.
Oh no! I bought these expecting to integrate them with HA before reading your comment :(
Was tempted until I spotted it’s Bluetooth rather than WiFi, which limits the functionality
What functionality is limited by Bluetooth?
Other than being much lower energy consumption and therefore lower range, I assumed that Bluetooth would have similar functionality to Wifi.
Compatible with Yeelight Aurora Lightstrip ?
LEDs too far apart
Bluetooth only.
