  • What (is) the Beep ?

      Beep says: "Engine: Permanent Magnet"

edit: I am informed that this is common industry terminology.

    • What the Dee-pal?

Not gonna sell, too expensive for what it has to offer, eventually will be reduced to clear.

  • +6

Another unknown brand with no track record. I’d much rather the EV5 or the Model Y and know what I’m actually getting.

    • +1

Every brand has to start from somewhere.

      • +7

True, but do you think people are willing to take a gamble on unknown brands charging over $50K? They won't break into the market at this price point.

      • +1

Yeh but right in the middle of the established players in regard to pricing isn't the best idea.

    • +3

You don't know it, doesn't mean other people don't know it, obviously it has good sale record, otherwise it won't be able to come here

    • -5

The software upgrades on the model Y alone make it worth the difference let alone being the safest car on the road.

  • +5

Tesla will be having tough competition I guess, looks like it's much easy to make a ev compared to ICE, it's pouring.

    • +3

If this is the competition, I don’t think Tesla has to worry.

      • +1

Wait for a year. You will see a lot more brands that you never heard before selling electric SUVs.

    • +3

Tesla is shaping up to be the Nokia of electric vehicles.

      • +4

        Indestructible?

      • Given they are the only company making a profit on pure EVs, I think you need to learn more about business and economics.

  • +2

    Typo? Should it be Deepak?

  • Do these have a safety rating?

  • +3

So many shit brand names for all these new EV companies flooding the market.

Their original name is shit too

Chongqing Changan New Energy Automobile Technology

Lol at the price. Good luck selling one on the second hand market. It won't sell.

    • +4

How much could it possibly cost to hire some marketing interns for a day to workshop a decent English market name right?

    • +1

Give me Lucky Goldstar anyday XD

  • +1

    Speaking with Model Y.
In home market, S07 top tier is about 70K CNY ≈ 14k AUD cheaper vs Model Y.

This car won't sell well in Australia.

Could any game players remember how many World of Warcraft killer were advertised in the last years?

  • V2G compatibility is what I will look at with all cars now the government is setting something up now.

I've not driven this, or know almost anything about it, but I'd take BYD sealion over this. It's currently only hybrid is Aus, but full electric version coming early next year I believe. Dare say it'll be cheaper than this, with more range too.

Just a comparison and my 2c.

    • +2

Oh? Huh… I didn’t even realise BYD sold Hybrids, I thought they were all fully electric. #TIL

      • +1

Yeah I test drive the sealion, their SUV. Was really nice. Very affordable compared to the competition (50 or 60k for their two sealion options)
        Interior was pretty good too.

I bought a seal though, novated through work. I wanted full electric, really liking it so far.

  • +1

no deal, until price dropped to 35k drive away

  • +2

Am with the others - Just no reassurance that they will exist in the marketplace in a few years.
Can't imagine a single sale at this price point.

  • Apple or other
    Tesla or other

    Just about consumption habits

  • +2

Remind me again when its 30K driveaway

    • +2

Won't be long. Check back in 5? lol

  • +1

the brand name alone is enough to deter me from buying one…can't see this company last seeing how dominant Tesla, MG and BYD are now/ And Aus is a small market

  • +1

misleading title : price is for certain colours only

not really a 'bargain' as others above have said

only 'bargain' is the free charging for 12 months

  • saw one of these on the road, does look nice and sleek , way better than the ugly lump that is the model y , but yeah if i was in the market, would want a price point no more than $5k higher than current mg4 deals .

  • +1

    RRP spam by the b**p

  • You've got to have something that no-one else's got to break into the market.

Tesla had electric when no-one else did, and performance, and the promise of autonomous. It succeeded.

There's a whole lot of unknown weirdly-named Chinese makes that have got low prices for EVs. They'll succeed.

This one just looks like yet another over $50K Chinese electric EV. What has it got that'll get people into their showroom?

And even if its just as good as all its competitors, what's it going to be worth second hand if there's questions about whether parts are available, and mechanics know how to fix it.

China would be smarter to concentrate on one product per market segment that has something no-one else has.

  • The front end of it looks like a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) drive system from Red October.
