Is There a Better Laptop Deal out There for Me? - Budget under $2,000

I'm in need of a laptop with 32gb ram, new-ish gen i7/AMD equivalent, and a screen size over 15". Graphics card isn't a must but would be a bonus. It will be largely sat on my desk plugged into external monitors/peripherals and will just sometimes move it around the house to work on, but it doesn't need to be especially portable.

I've had my eye on this HP Victus 16 on eBay for $1715, is there anything out that beats that? My total spend definitely needs to be under $2k.

It's good to look now, but wait for Cyber Monday before deciding.

    • My current laptop has shit the bed and I need one ASAP. I do have eBay plus so I get 30 day returns if a significantly better deal shows up at least.

There's a dilemma for an Ozbargainer, but at least you have a backup if you buy HP and the price drops.

I would normally recommend adding Dell XPS to your specs comparison but Dell are probably waiting for Cyber Monday.

I'm probably wrong. I typically am. But is that how it works or it's intended use?

I thought your return in this case would be a change of mind and that is totally at the discretion of the seller, not eBay.

      • Only if you keep the box un-opened. If opened, it is no long as shipped condition and you "may" get hit with re-stocking fee.

        • Cheers, hadn't actually seen that. I've ordered this one but I'll keep it in box for a week or two/as long as I can manage just to see if any other deals pop up, just didn't want to miss this one.

If you're only plugging it in your monitor on your desk, etc., why not also consider desktops - e.g. this one not too long ago for almost $1k cheaper - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/868685

  • That seems like a fairly decent deal, especially for new. These 2nd hand options are also comparable:

    • Cheers :) I would rather stick with new just for the warranty, I've had pretty bad luck with faulty laptops in the past, always nice for it to not be my problem 😂

Don’t forget you get ACL warranty with laptops these days, most issues in the first 4 years will be repaired without question.

  • Adding to this thread to see if anyone spots a sale like this again (I'm also looking for a gaming laptop between $1,500 to $2,000):
