  • Wifi is must

    • Wifi demolishes battery life

I have the finger print, door bell + camera version of this which has wifi, needing to charge it approx once every 3 months. The wifi drain isn't that crazy.

That probably has a huge battery then.
Most deadbolt locks do not take up too much space, so the batteries cannot be too big.

3 months is still quite short for a critical piece of equipment.

zigbee / Bluetooth / thread do save a significant amount of power vs wifi

      It's definitely not a must.

I have the fingerprint +BT version of this, have had it for a number of years.

Wifi would be useful on occasion, but for the main part it's absolutely not a must.

  • Arnt these less secure than a regular lock

  • -4

If they are as secure as their cameras you could use a Bluetooth speaker to unlock these

  • How do you charge this? AA batteries?
Do I need a locksmith to install this?

  • So no homeassist with this?
Can someone recommend something similar and small that uses homeassist?

  • A little off topic….

I have a security screen/door (would love to keep it) which only leaves 7.5cm of room between the entry door, wondering anyone come across a sub $500 smart lock, with handle, that can fit in this tight space? Best it fits in existing door knob(those basic round one) so I don't have to modify the door :D
