Is it really popular, with good reviews?

    It looks awful to me.

It's a remake of an old unit and is apparently better than the old one.

    • Apparently it’s pretty decent. I was surprised, too.

I connect mine up through an AV Receiver and the sound is pretty solid.

Most people like the idea of a vinyl collection and then end up back on Spotify most of the time - with their turntable taking up space in the setup.

This lets you dabble in spinny spinny when you feel like it, but then easy to store the burger when not using for periods of time.

I grabbed a storage case in AliEx and I’m sorted.

    • This one should be more to your liking:

The Rega planars look very nice, varying price ranges.

Not sure why, but can't seem to hear any pop or crackle when the needle is in the groove. All in all, a very quiet turntable.

Picked one up last time around and it’s a decent solution to anyone strapped for space, sounds good when hooked up directly to speakers via RCA cords (admittedly I have no frame of reference, but it sounds great to me).

Don’t buy it for actual portability though. It’s not leaving the house, be honest with yourself. The internal hipster probably would love the idea of going to flea markets or garage sales and testing used vinyls on the fly, but like most I’m gainfully employed and the lawn doesn’t mow itself on Sundays.

Still waiting on a deal for an actual turntable. Hopefully soon!

With the price of records these days, please don’t ruin them by playing them on rubbish like this. Spend more and hold onto your record collection longer.

      Username checks out

    • The stylus needle is the point of contact, no doubt you could upgrade that but I bet no one would if they are going for the absolute cheapest.

I totally agree though, especially considering the cost of records!

  • Not sure it will work with all my warped records from Amazon..

warped records…one of the best record labels.

      AFX

  • i swear i chipped in on one of these as a present for someone a few years ago and it was like $150… balked at even that price. saw em in JBhifi for $399 on the w/e… insanity.

I know you can used wired connection, but what is the logic of playing vinyl then routing it through the crappy SBC Bluetooth codec?

    • +1

Listening to physical media is fun and rewarding.

      • Yeah but why would they then route it through the worst BT codec?

It makes no sense at all - especially when there are much better bluetooth codecs available.

        • +1

          sounds good to me

        • +1

Yeah Bluetooth is less than ideal. Should use phono out into your DAC of choice.

Unless you’re willing to spend ~$35-40 per album don’t get this. For 99% of people out there a streaming music service and good speakers is a better option.

    • You know people collect vinyl records still right?

      • I think the sentiment is that people may spend a lot on records but cheap out on the record player, negating any possible audio benefits.

I have one and love it. Takes up no space and my vinyls sound. Mine is connected to my soundbar via Bluetooth.

I don't want to hear about if it only sounds QUITE GOOD vs VERY GOOD. It sounds good to me, and when I put a record on I tend to actually listen to the music as an activity. It's not just putting on some background noise like pressing Shuffle.

  • Good guys have price beat the black one online currently.

Turntable like having a printer for cheap, then you will have to buy inks actually more expensive than the printer. Not superior to CD's sound quality and even no point to use Bluetooth. Vinyl are too expensive to justify spending on them.

It's all about nostalgia my friend.

      • -6

When its time gone it's gone. You cannot make america great again, no matter how resurrect your hopes again.

  • Man this thing should be $50 tops because if you have a record with edge warp, you're going to have problems.

Nice one OP sharing it at this price as the $429 price is pretty silly if you ask me👍🏻.

Bought one last time, sounds good and is compact in my small filled to the brim ozbargain bedroom. I did wonder why I spent $200 but it was half price!
Two days later an original one turned up on gumtree for only $64…
