Gosh it's hard to understand the design choice of a glass shot glass charge dock which leaves toothbrush on an awkward messy angle…

    • Yes, the design is poor as the toothbrush needs to balance in a shallow cup tilted at an awkward angle. It appears to be designed this way so people who purchase it are locked into the expensive toothbrush ecosystem as these toothbrushes are not compatible with the charging system on the cheaper models which all uses the same charger.

  • my $60 Oral-B worked really well.

This is not a good deal. The dual 9000 models are often on sale for $280-$300 for 2.

Having been through 2 sonicares while my oral B are still functional I have to say I would never buy another.
The attachment to the brush head works loose and renders the toothbrush ineffective after a few years. My oral B batteries won’t get more than 1-2 brushes in after 4-5 years but they still work for brushing teeth.
Next purchase will be an IO I believe.

    • Good call, my IO is still going strong 3.5 years later.
Holds charge well and works as well as the day it arrived, no regrets with this purchase despite the high upfront cost

    • I got 7 years out of my previous diamondclean. Only broke it when I tried to replace the seal. Battery still had 2 weeks of brushing between charges until then.

I got one of these for free a while back… it lasted all of 18months then wouldn’t turn on again.

  • I've had the opposite experience with the Oral-b brushes lasting about two years.

I have the older Sonicare diamondclean and it's 7 years old and still going strong. It also does a better clean than the Oral-b (in my opinion).

The brush charges fine in the glass. You just put the brush in the glass - there's no balancing act. Unless they have changed the glass in the new version, it's a glass cup, not a glass shot glass.
