Amazon Not Shipping an in Stock Item - for a Month - Ideas?

I bought an item on Amazon on the 6th of October, from Amazon Germany via the Amazon Australia site.
It was listed as In Stock at the time, and it has remained listed as In Stock for the subsequent month, however as of 5th November, it still is just sitting in the "Order Received" state - not shipped.

I've tried contacting Amazon support, but they have just said "oh, international orders can take many weeks to ship due to customs". This has never been my experience with ordering from international Amazons though. They've always shipped same day.

I wondered if anyone else has encountered something like this, and if so, what causes the issue? How can it be solved?

What was the delivery estimate date when you ordered? Is it still within that? If not, cancel it and order another one. If the same thing happens, wait or cancel.

It's definitely not next day dispatch for Amazon International stores from my experience, but shouldn't take weeks either.

    • I guess with black friday coming up there's likely to be another sale.

If not, cancel it and order another one. If the same thing happens, wait or cancel.

if you got it at a bargain price and the price goes up that's not a option though.

order again and wait is just the same thing repeating. at least according to a few users here on ozb. theres no progress.

  • Are you sure it was in stock with Amazon or was it in stock with a third party?

    • Item has always said "Sold by Amazon Germany, Shipped by Amazon Germany"

fyi I have checked items directly on Amazon US in the past, and compared to Amazon US via AU.

some of the listing that says "Sold by Amazon US, Ships from Amazon US" is actually from third party "Fulfilled by Amazon" on the US site. I checked multiple items and the closest prices (after converting and removing tax) lined up with those Fulfilled by amazon listings.

but usually it is stuff in their warehouse already so just as good as actually sold by Amazon US.

My recent experience with Amazon DE has been the same. They are truly hopeless.

  • Similar with the last Amazon sale for items from Germany - IIRC, took about 3 weeks to ship

An update — contacted customer support again, and this time they said:
Your order is stuck. I have cancelled it. Feel free to re-order it. Have $15 voucher for your inconvenience.

    • is it still available for same price though ?

      • Close enough to, but am wondering if I should now wait for black friday sales..

  • I waited months for my Yorkshire Gold to arrive. But where else can you buy it loose leaf in Australia, so I just waited.

    for a Month - Ideas?

it's been happening to many users for awhile. Amazon DE via Amazon AU orders not shipping, ever.
to test it I waited over 5 or 6 weeks. I used that waiting time to bargain for the solution I wanted which was to buy the same item from Amazon AU for higher price and get the rest in credit. because I told them I was waiting for so long since ordering from Amazon DE they agreed.
but this only works if they have the same item Ship and Sold by Amazon AU (not third party).

    • Ah, how interesting. I wonder why things are so broken with that system?

I wonder why things are so broken with that system?

        that's what I told them.

left out a lot of time chatting to customer support btw. at like 4 weeks in they said "it's about to ship, it will ship in 72 hours don't worry", they kept repeating this every 4 days because it was a different cs member. and kept getting mixed info, like we can't cancel because it's about to ship, actually you can cancel, but I thought it would eventually ship so I said no keep the order I want you to honor the price.
at the end of 5 or 6 weeks they read all the history and I remember cs member actually reconnected chat to another cs member, who I think is in australia (english name) they were the first who didn't repeat the same trained responses. anyway they accepted my request for waiting so long and I made it easier for them by just saying credit the difference is fine. it was under $100 so I would manage to spend it.
if you really pushed them you could probably get the difference in refund.

There seems to be an issue with the amount and the systems in dispatch. It hits their fulfilment accounting system and just stops dead, and they don't attempt to fix it. Only approach seems to be to cancel the order and reorder, maybe getting some money for the inconvenience.

It's also been happening so long (at least 6 months) that it appears Amazon DE have no desire to fix it.

Suggest not touching Amazon DE with a 10 foot barge pole - they are just not worth the hassle.

        • Only approach seems to be to cancel the order and reorder,

I mentioned this in a reply towards the top, but cancelling and reorder doesn’t work if the price has gone up. and best case resets the timer for how long you have been waiting for delivery (delivery estimate shows a later date).

this only works if Amazon AU sells the same item but you will want to keep your order, then after the date it’s supposed to arrive, chat to support like they are a human being and with a bit of patience until you get the resolution you want. I shared what they agreed to above. a bit frustrating when you are told over and over the first few times “it’ll happen in 72 hours” but if you ordered something $100 less than local price just wait until delivery due date (it shows on the item page when ordering, not under orders) and contact chat.

Just wait. Amazon Germany always like that. Status changed after a month only.

This happened to me with Klein tools. They just refused to ship it. I assumed they didn’t like the price I paid for it.

I have no idea how this is allowed to occur with zero recourse for the customer.

I got caught with this recently trying to buy an Electro-Harmonix Battalion. Ordered it on 20 October 2024 for $260 from Amazon Germany with an expected delivery date of 29 October 2024, which I was extremely happy with. The smile soon faded, as order stayed in limbo (even though Amazon Germany was still showing stock and a delivery date) for a couple of weeks, then a couple of days ago the delivery window was updated to mid-February to mid-May 2025. Cancelled and purchased from Reverb for about $50 more (still materially below local price, so no need to hand back Ozbargain membership card) as I had zero faith that Amazon wouldn't cancel the order in the future.

I'm in the same boat, but with Amazon Japan. Originally purchased an item at the start of June, with an estimated delivery time of ~10 days.
Every time it got within a few days of the estimated delivery, it be pushed back another week.
    This happened for 4 months.
Contacted Amazon AU via chat as the item has been reviewed dozens of times in that window, so they are obviously shipping it domestically. Amazon said that there is nothing they can do other than cancelling my order and ordering again. The price at the time was now 30% higher. Amazon AU would refund the difference when it's delivered.

Now the new order has been getting bumped every week, and now it says "We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date.", and the item is now 20% cheaper and listed as "In Stock".

So Amazon Japan can just choose not to ship an item overseas, while fulfilling domestic orders?
