Amazon International (How Long Does Deliveries Typically Take?) or Did My Order Get Lost?

I've ordered a Garmin Instinct 2 Solar which was marked as $399 on Amazon Germany and having a Prime account I was eligible for free delivery.

This is almost double the price here in most Australian stores. I made the order a couple of weeks back now, but it still shows as

"Order Received" we will email you when we have an estimated delivery date.

Does this usually take this long? I've never ordered anything internationally before. I contacted them and they couldn't help much. Is it possible that my order got lost/ ignored?

I still have the option to cancel the order and purchase it again, don't know if it's worth it?

  • I find the international stuff hit and miss. My last experience was for a 4 pack of spark plugs from Amazon DE. Took two weeks for them to even send them and when they turned up 10 days later there was only one plug. FFS. I received a full refund and got to keep the spark plug.

  • +1

this is the 5th time I have read about this happening on ozb. always with Amazon DE.

it also happened to me. I waited 5 weeks with no change in order status. support just keeps saying “it will ship very soon” or “in 48 hours” but nothing ever happens. there is some serious issue and things aren’t shipping when they are suppose too.

I have ordered from Amazon UK, US, JP and never had this issue. also for a semi expensive item (over $150).

ymmv but I waited 5 weeks, the last week which I was contacting support every 48 to 72 hours asking why nothing ever changes. in the end I told them it’s never going to ship when they keep promising it will. suggested if I can buy the exact same item from Amazon AU and if they will credit the difference. they agreed.
yeah I know Amazon credit is not money saved but you can try asking them for refund of difference.

    • I called customer service, they offered kindly to "help find me a similar product from Amazon AU" (like I can't do that myself)

I might try and ask them for the same, I'd take the difference in price as store credit TBH!

Something is seriously broken with deliveries from Amazon DE it seems like for some time now. Surprised this is not getting addressed.

      • yes something is definitely broken when purchasing from Amazon DE.

first time I read about it here, it was only one comment so I thought “must be once off won’t happen to me” then I read another similar comment. then I ordered and it happened to me. 😭 then read about it twice more since then.

Amazon always seems to give an acceptable solution. it helps if you wait longer because it adds to the urgency of your issue.

I think I also said something like “if you are going to advertise a certain price and delivery date I expect it to be honoured”.

      • If you're really desperate you can try ask support to cancel your current order and then you reorder(while on the phone with support) and have them send you an email confirming that they will refund you the priority shipping fee as a giftcard. That's what I did last time and the item ended up arriving within a week and I got a $50 giftcard after calling them back when I received it.

I only had to wait one week with no shipping update for them to offer me this option.

  • Amazon DE is the worst. Order status did not change for a few weeks before it finally shipped. I waited for more than a month for orders from Amazon DE. Well, not all but at least a few. Rest of the world are reasonable though.

    • I think the consensus is it'll most likely still arrive, could take a month or two.

  • Amazon DE is really Amazon Poland. lol

i got some car bits and they took less than 7 days to get to me.

  • My last Amazon DE order went missing at AusPost (tracking ID provided but hadn't move since arriving in Australia); so went on live chat and received a full refund.

Weeks after estimated delivery date, it just showed up.
