    • I'm guessing it comes out of Amex's promo budget.
I'm sure at least a few people would have seen a few too many Amex exclusive deals here to ignore Amex.

      • thanks for ur reponse

    • -3

      The customer loses..

They increase rates and you wouldn't even know about it..

They are not as hot a news as mortgage rates

      • +10

True OzBargainers don't pay credit card interest.

        • Agree. if you pay it off every month you dont pay interest.
I myself havent paid the banks any interest on CC for last 10 years when I first got my CC.
They must hate me. And for the points, I have redemeed about $2000 worth of stuff in last 6 years alone

        • +2

Nope, they don't hate you. They make money on every transaction you make from all the merchant fees. They don't lose.

      • +1

Mortgages are a nescessity for most of the population to purchase a property to live in.

Credit card interest rates are only applicable to morons who can't control their spending. Which is why no one cares.

  • I and mrs both have an amex and we have registered and got the confirmation email as well. Does anyone know for sure that we can buy Gift Cards from Target and still qualify for this offer? If we can, i'll just buy 2 x $50 Gift Cards and use them whenever we need.

    • +2

      You sure can!

    • +1

I did the same and already got the credit, so yes go ahead.

  • +1

@ geek7899 - yeah as lkong as u dont go into that cycle of paying interste i guess u never loss.. i have been using credit cards now fo rover 8 years and have never paid a peny in interest..

@mihirengineer - i bought gift cards at rebel sports (amex previous promotion) & got back the money..
i am assumin it will work with target as welll.. & will buy a few this evening..

also as the system is automated, i dont think it identifies whether u bougtht a gift card or not..
but dont quote me for this

    • thanks coolhead…i suppose you are right and i dont think a transaction record amex receives can differentiate between gift card and normal goods purchase..So i guess we are safe in buying gift cards..Should buy this evening too then,.Cheers

Where do you buy Coles Myer gift card on Target website? I can't find it on the link below
    https://onlineshopping.target.com.au/

The gift card is only for Target??

Do you have to go to Target store to get Coles Myer gift card?

    • would also like to know if this is possible

    • I think they are only available in store. There is a post from cooni on first page "Officeworks does accept and yes, Target does sell. They have blank cards which you can take to the counter for $x. Just bought one now."

      • Do they sell other gift cards
Like BigW or Wish Gift card

        • coles & myer gift card, no wish card as far as i know

  • -3

yay … got my American Express from the nespresso offer today
Registered my 3 credit cards :)

    • Nespresso sent you an Amex card?
      Where do I sign up?

      • AMEX nespresso coffee machine offer
        Google is your freind :)

        • +2

Spell check would be yours! ;)

    • Received my AMEX card today too. Looking forward to the Free DeLonghi Nespresso Coffee Machine.
BTW, I also received a self-addressed reply envelope in the mail (with the card and other T&C docs)… wondering if you also got this envelope… There is nowhere mentioned about sending back any stuff…

    • T&Cs for Nespresso offer state "offer only available to new Amex card members". Are you sure existing card holders are eligible for this offer? Cheers

      • I'm a new Amex card member. The Amex card I received today is from the Nespresso offer. I have no other Amex card.

        • sorry eleana. I was responding to easternculture.

      • +1

I already got the David Jones Offer
Then applied for this, called up AMEX and they confirmed that my Card is linked to the nespresso offer and i would get a Coffee machine if i spent $500 by 31 Jan 2013
Im going to just buy a $500 Wish gift card with my new AMEX and use it for groceries @ Woolworths

        • The application form asks first whether you have an Amex card. I guess if you state No here and apply, it works?

        • yep, i said no and didn't enter my licence number

  • +1

Bought five nerf guns, totalling $78, target's toy promotion reduced it to $51.20 (50% off second toy), Amex's contribution drives it down to a princely $26.20.

This will make it a very merry Christmas for my brother :D

  • Are you guys buying gift cards online and paying the $3 delivery of going stinge and getting them in-store? :p I guess one per credit card is easier online but still.. couldn't combine postage I guess so $100 gift cards for $56

    • Why would you want to buy online?

  • +1

    D'oh!

  • OP where do you find these deals? Been with AMEX for a while and they never send me out offers like this

  • This is not expired
    Link is still working

    • Input your details and you will receive expired message :(

I really hope they open up to another 5000 members given the popularity of this promo :D

The thing is this offer isn't even listed on their FB page.

  • People, if I have claimed the Rebel sport amex cashback, can i still claim this target cashback? Under the merchant offer terms: "American Express reserves the right to limit one $25 credit per Cardmember during the promotional period." Or does this mean you can't claim multiple target cashbacks? Confused!

    • +2

Different promotions, so you are entitled to both!

      • Agree!

  • Anyone tried spending the limit a few times on the same card to see if you get multiple cashbacks on the one card?

    • not allowed
I called AMEX and they said 1 cashback per card

  • I mostly follow OzBargain through the RSS feed, but for some reason this deal never appeared on it. Any ideas as to why that could have been?

    • It was quite a "small" post as well - I missed it too. It was also never on the AMEX FB page.

Very popular AMEX deal. Usually registration takes days not hours to expire.

  • This is cool promotion.. i bought the gift card from target which is valid on all Coles group vendors like coles, myers, targte. kmart blah blah…. no need to spend teh money even at target..

  • +7

I bought a $50 Coles Group and Myer gift card.
    Received this email:

    Dear cooni,

Same. Definitely no issue with buying gift cards (not that the terms & conditions mentioned it as an exemption anyway).

  • Registered and receive a confirmation email for this deal.
Bought a $50 Giftcard in Target on Friday…
Havnt receive any email or refund …
Can anyone tell me how long it takes to receive the email from AE?

Edit: just check it require 5 Business days …
That's why I did not receive the redeem email.

  • +3

Bought $50 gift card from Target on 12/12 and received the $25 credit back into my AMEX account on 14/12. Awesome!!

  • +2

Received credit for both mine and the supplementary card too.

  • Has anyone noticed on their Amex statement that the credit is from Target and not Amex? All the other cashbacks I have received are from Amex.

  • Anyone made purchase on Saturday and got any email like cooni's from Amex or received refund?
My husband and I shopped at Target last Saturday. Haven't received email or got refund yet.
Edit: I know it takes 5 business day. But saw some people here already got their refund. Just wondering when did they spend the 50 or more. So can keep tracking how quick the refund will show up into the accounts. TA

    • +1

      @Eleana
Assuming you got the original registration email you should get the email saying you qualified today and credit by Thursday (approx)

(my shop was the 13th and credited 14th but took a day or two after the 14th to show in the account - and get email
then was credited by Target (apparently)

      • +1

Thanks for the reply, snappy. My husband and I both got the original registration email. But haven't received the second email yet. Finger cross.

    • me too..

    • +1

The two $25 cash back (for the primary and the supplementary card) turned up in the account this morning and back dated to 17 Dec 2012 :)
The credit was from Target as well.

      • +1

got the $25 credit from Target as well..

        no email this time..

        all's good

  • +2

bought 2 (me and my partner) * $50 coles myer gift card on 16 Dec and got the rebate on 17 Dec, awesome.

  • +3

Just got the $25 back from buying a $50 coles myer gift card… thought you'd all want to know you're safe ;)

  • Went to Target today to buy the giftcard… and I had to ASK for the Coles Myer giftcard… the only other ones on display were Target only giftcards… so I thought it's worth mentioning that you should ask for it if you can't find it anywhere. Catch is they seemed to be low on stock - definitely didn't have any Christmas themed ones, but that's really not an issue. :) Now will have to wait for my rebate. :)

    • Really? They had a tonne of them at my local (Parramatta NSW)

  • Woohoo. 300 votes for this deal.

Amex sent a confirmation e-mail, so that will help against the card's Janauary blowout.
It was put into my statement four days ago: against the Oral B toothbrush cashback deal.

Congratulations! You have completed all qualifying transactions on your
    registered Card ending in xxxxx.

Your $25 statement credit for spending $50 or more at Target will be issued to your registered Card account. Statement credits are generally issued within 5 business days upon completion of your eligible transaction.

  • I ordered two items online while I was away. I have come back to find one item cancelled (negating my $25 rebate) and the item that was delivered was damaged.
