On sale is the successor to the previously popular Xiaomi Air Pump 2 with a heap of improvements that allows it to inflate tyres a whole lot quicker than the older model. This one has a 2.2x increase in inflation speed thanks to the the increased cylinders, larger battery and higher operating voltage. Making it far more suitable for inflating car tyres instead of just bikes and escooters etc.

The original Air Pump 2 would take approx. 8 minutes to inflate a flat 205 tyre from 0 to 2.5 Bar and now with the Air Pump 2 Pro it takes approx. 3.5 minutes to inflate from flat. If you were to re-inflate from 2.0 to 2.5 Bar it will take approx. 45 seconds instead of 2 minutes. Not bad for a portable battery operated air compressor.

Like the original it goes up to 150 PSI, can be set to PSI/Bar, includes multiple adapters, USB-C charging and an inbuilt light. There's also an additional red warning light on the display.

  • i am still using the original version (version 1) :(

I am still using the 1s and the battery is shit now. It wont even last for 5 mins before the battery goes flat.

So I dont recommend this xiaomi pump as they skimp on quality battery.

    • Same with 1s , I didn't use it a lot but battery still didn't last long now. Just bought the 2 from the latest eBay deal hope this one is better.

Thanks for the right up op.

  • wish they went up by 0.1 increments for balls

    • +3

I just stop it when my balls feel good.

  • If you're spending this much, may as well get a proper unit like the Ozito: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-inflator-…

    • It's not a proper air compressor. Being battery powered you'll still have the same issue of it taking a while to inflate tyres.

      • This ozito compressor is probably a better comparison:
        https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-high-pressure-air-…

About the same price if you have to buy a battery, but way more powerful, better attachments etc

Only downside is that it's larger, and usbc charging might be more convenient if you're storing it in your car for emergencies

Got one myself a couple of weeks ago, after having the gen1 Xiaomi, and now I regret ever having used the Xiaomi for years and not upgrading sooner

      • Keep in mind that in a few years, all batteries will need replacing, and for appliances with built-in batteries, this often makes them disposable. The Ozito setup suits those who are prepared to carry extra weight and are already in the Ozito ecosystem (or have battery adapters). A typical battery for these Ozito units costs around $30 each when on sale (usually requiring multiple items purchased to get this price).

        • Yep that's a no brainer.

          • +1

@Clear: true, but some people are just "no brainer"

      • +1

I have the DeWalt inflator and it's excellent. Does everything and quickly too.

I bought the XiaoMi Gen2 because it was cheap and I was curious. It's handy to keep in the car for emergency top ups or doing the kids bikes. But that's all I would use it for, and at $80 i don't see ithe Pro adding any real extra value.

    • +1

I disagree, but I did get the Xiaomi quite a bit cheaper. I went from the Ozito to the gen 2 Xiaomi. The Ozito is louder and doesn’t save pressure presets. I am using it to regularly pump up bike tyres, so other use cases may find the Ozito more convenient for this.

  • Have both the Ozito ($80 one) and a Xiaomi.

Xiaomi is ok for maintenance top ups, like changing from 36 to 38, or just checking. The Ozito is obviously significantly better for doing larger spreads.

The Xiaomi is my choice for bike tyres, scooter tyres, and other small things.

  • Taking a punt.

  • For anyone checking this in the fhtjre, be careful.

The pump 2 pro is a chonky boi
