      without an annual fee?

      • They added that 5 mins after the comment

        • You're not wrong

        • Yes as I don’t want to pay a $1,450 annual fee… or any annual fee thanks

  • just fork out the $45 or so annual fee for a St george card etc. The bonus points more than make up for any costs.

    • Thanks.

      I think you’re referring to:

      St Gerorge Amplify Rewards Platinum
$49 annual fee (reverts to $124 after first year)

It appears you have to spend $500pp for each member of your family going on holiday. For example, for a family of four that would be $2000 on the credit card

Are there better options out there?

Same as Bendigo ready. Other option is commbank ultimate award, but you gotta spend $4k each month to keep it free or having mortgage with them. ButIf you're struggling to spend $2k to get travel cover then better not travel after all.

        • I didn’t know 4k each month is the better option. Thanks!

    • HSBC looks like the best one.

Any idea what interest rate they pay on their savings or investment account?

Base rate for bonus savings is 2% with bonus 2.25% if you increase your account by $300 each month, the everyday savings is 5.15% introductory for first 3 month and then 3% afterwards

        • Not worth parking $150k plus with those rates, and depositing $9k a month doesn’t suit me. Looks like it’s going to be NAB plat or St George Amplify Plat…

@freeb1e4me: Not the best rates, but you could park it elsewhere and just set up payments to automatically go in each month and set another one to transfer back out.

      • lol mate, you'd struggle to get that card even before the commbank card, by the time you're eligible you could have the combank card done, spent $4000 to get that free insurance cover and cancel the card, just make sure if you need to make any claim do it before cancel it.

  • ING Platinum fee free has travel insurance. Just have to do the 5 transactions ((CC or transaction account) and deposit $1000 each month into the transaction account.

  • Received email today that American Express Velocity Escape Card has free upgrade.

"We want to let you know about changes to the Insurance Terms and Conditions included with your American Express Velocity Escape Card. This includes the addition of new Travel Insurance and Buyer's Advantage Cover and some changes to Card Purchase Cover, for you and any Additional Cards on your Account."

    • FYI, that has $95 annual fee, which is OK if you’re staying. Otherwise St Gerorge Amplify Rewards Platinum $49 annual fee (reverts to $124 after first year) is better for just 1 year.
