do you cover warranties if the ssd is faulty?

    • Yes

  • +3

    Shame no 4tb drive options

    • yeah 4tb would have been good

  • +3

    Are these good drives?

Well specifically the PNY 2TB one

Guessing a Phison E27T based SSD. PNY is known to do component swaps for SSDs, but this is a new model. Assuming it is E27T based, check the review below:

      https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/ssds/corsair-mp60…

Would have preferred a larger dynamic pSLC, but it is understandable (because the controller uses a single core CPU). It competes with NM790 (but the all time low for NM790 2TB was cheaper than this). However, that pSLC, if configured the same as MP600 elite, is too small in today's standard.

My experience with PNY SSDs is mixed. I bought 2 cheap PNY 2TB SSDs ($121, $115) before. Despite being the same model, the one I bought earlier was TLC, the second one (a bit cheaper) turned out to be QLC. So, worst case, this turns out to be a QLC SSD (unlikely, but possible).

I just wanted to confirm your guess - it is a Phison E27 (PS5027-E27-61)

PS5 read speed is 6500, transferred 325gb from console SSD to the PNY SSD and it took around 3 and a half minutes

        • Thank you for confirming the controller and providing the PS5 speed test result.

  • are they new?

    • Yes.

  • Would love some other 2tb models

  • Free shipping is nice. Thanks, bought a 2tb PNY

  • Interested in getting the 2TB PNY - does this come with a heatsink for PS5? or any suggestions for a heatsink?

  • Thanks bought a 500gb Aorus for O/S and swap space.

  • PNY CS2340 or WD Blue SN580?

    • If you can benefit from SN580's rather large pSLC cache or you trust WD SSD firmware more, then SN580.
General raw performance, PNY CS2340 (assuming Phison E27T based, but could be SMI SM2268XT2). For most people, if you must get a 2TB right now, probably PNY CS2340.

      • I think I know what you mean, I can wait. Thanks.

  • Sk hynix or Samsung, only 2 company we can trust.

    • All major SSD makers had made products with issues. Samsung had the infamous write degradation issue (for 990 Pro). SK Hynix, the big drop in write speed (basically, not doing foldback write to recover SLC cache). Realistically, it comes down to the models (and a lot of time, the batches (which controller and NAND flash type)).

It's good that Metrocom is bring people this deal. Pity this SSD is too new so there is very little info on it.

      • it's pny, probably has 10gb of SLC and slows down to 50mbs a second

it's bottom of the barrel stuff

    • western digital/sandisk is also reliable

  • I believe the PNY 2T one does not have any dram?

    • yeah, i think the PNY one uses HMB. the 1TB gigabyte aurous 7300 has DRAM and is reasonably fast

  • The Aourus 7300 comes with the heatsink included?
Can find hardly any review info on it. Seems great for PS5 but nobody recommends it specifically???

    • if it doesn't come with a heat sink you can buy a cheap low-profile heatsink locally or from aliexpress. if you are using it for a PC, the gigabyte specs suggest it supports AES-256 hardware encryption. i have no idea how it performs in the real world. 700TBW for warranty is also a bit higher than average

  • Any recommendations to replace the suspect drive in my Dell laptop?

Currently has 2230 3x4 liteon 512gb. It looks like a 2280 is possible and I believe gen 4 are backwards compatible.

I’m thinking of getting 1gb but I’m out of touch with the latest on chip versions, prices seem to vary enormously and I’d like to avoid spending too much on a 5year old laptop.
