[PS5] Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered PS5 Upgrade $15 (for Owners of Original Version) @ PlayStation

314

Just put in my PS4 copy this morning and its only $15 to upgrade to the remaster.

If you received a digital copy through PlayStation Plus you are eligible for the upgrade also

Currently if you do not own it, its $75 to buy online.

I just had a look at preowned copies (CEX/DSE) and it should cost you around $15.

Existing owners of Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4)* and/or Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (PS4, PS5) can upgrade to the digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PlayStation 5 console. This includes fans who added the game to their libraries during PlayStation’s Play At Home initiative.**

*Owners of the Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 game disc can access this offer by inserting the game disc into their PS5 console (and will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game). PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to access the upgrade offer.

**Redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible to upgrade.

Paid $9 for PS4 copy when it was on special. Great game. Will get a forbidden west to play in future.

I got FW on PS4 as it had the free PS5 upgrade after i finished it on the PS4 i leant it to my mate to play on his PS4 Pro

  • +14

Don't think this is deal since $15 upgrade is normal price.

    • +8

It's telling people you can get a $75 game for ~$30 if you get a second hand copy of the original, I thought it was a good notification.

  • +9

This is just regular price for people upgrading. Where’s the bargain?

    • +8

It was more to inform users to buy it this way instead of paying $70 through sony

  • +1

Thanks, bought it. Not my favourite game, but it's pretty good. PS4 version only cost me $10, so the $15 upgrade makes it $50 cheaper than buying the PS5 version directly.

  • +7

This is RRP for the upgrade.

  • +3

Was not aware of this, thanks OP. I got the free digital version during the PS play at home initiative.

    No bargain

  • +5

I couldn’t get into this game, only paid the first tutorial section and a little past that. Maybe I should try again

    • +2

Got a few hours in and got tired of all the puzzles, like God of War. Too old for that shit, just want straight up action lol

    • +1

i was the same, really thought i'd like it but just couldnt get immersed

    • I'll check out Prince of Persia. I really like the open world in Horizon.

    • -2

Yeah open world games are really disrespectful of what they give you (gameplay and new things to do) for the amount of time you have to put in

If all I wanted was bland combat with fishing I'd play a dungeons iii and intersperse it with sega bass fishing. Which I don't do because they're not good. Yes I picked old or average games for the comparison on purpose.

I really wish every open world had an option to automatically complete fishing and provide all standard crafting materials with no effort (but yeah if you need to kill a unique dragon or whatever for some material then go do it yourself)

Don't understand why you say PoPLC is 'much better', it's not even the same genre as Horizon? By same logic…. Euro Truck Simulator is a much better game.

      • -6

You make a good point! I guess because they are both by Ubisoft Montpellier. If you look at the combat design and overall aesthetic, you'll see that they are similar, just with a different lore.

        • +2

First time I heard Horizon made by Ubisoft, I thought it was one of Sony's first party subsidiary dev

        • +1

          It's… not the same developer.

    • +1

They're completely different games. Makes no sense.

Like saying that Call of Duty 6 is better than Baldurs Gate 3 as the shooting is better. 🤷

    • +2

Completely different games in completely different genres by completely different developers with completely different publishers.

Prince of Persia Lost Crown is a good game, granted, but there’s basically no shared DNA here.

I think both games have a jump button. That’s about it.

Yo chat is this a PSA?

  • -1

I have this on PC - is it even worth the $15? Let's be real here. For real, for real.

    • +2

If you've bought it and never played it, I'd recommend it. I love this game, it's the only game I've played 100% through in the past 5 years (I thought I was just getting too old for gaming, but it turns out I just don't like most modern games). I'm playing through Forbidden West right now and it does definitely look better. I'm thinking I'll go back and play ZD again in widescreen (which is one of the graphical improvements).

My only problem was a I stupidly bought it on Epic (it was cheaper) and it looks like the upgrade button doesn't exist yet.

      • Yeah I know what you mean - it feels like new movies and games are just not creative enough..

      • To update the above, Epic upgrade price is $13.50, it applies a discount when you add the whole new app to cart.

    • This deal is for the PS5 console, not the PC.

  • +5

Very good value. Finished PS4 version but the PS5 upgrades are really good and worth the money. I bought it yesterday immediately after I saw the upgrades.

  • Not a deal / bargain. This is just the normal upgrade price.

  • +1

Good value but I think this should be a forum post, sorry OP

  • damn. played this last year thinking it wouldn't get a remaster 😭

  • -2

    how is this a deal

  • +1

Am I the only person getting $15.01 as the price?

    • +1

Same. $15.01 for me to upgrade as well. Curious as to why the extra cent? (if it is indeed extra…?)

      • Horizon Zero Dawn™ Remastered (Game) $13.64

        Subtotal:
        $13.64
        Tax: $1.36
        Total: $15.00

        VISA $15
Weird lol extra cc surcharge ?

        • Nah, we're just catching up to the UK, where they showed the VAT in PSN Store purchases.

So, it's still $15/$15.01 but the GST component is shown separately on the email invoice.

That being said, some evil banks like CBA actually apply a 3.5% international transaction fee on PSN purchases and PSN wallet funding if it's made from your debit/credit card (as the transaction appears to be processed in the UK). Use prepaid vouchers to fund your PSN wallet and make purchases to avoid any additional fees.

    • There's actually 2 upgrades on offer.

The one for $15 still requires that the PS4 disc is inserted to play. The one for $15.01 doesn't require the PS4 disc to be inserted to play.

      • Interesting. During the pre-order period, it was $15, now they've added an extra 1 cent

        • Damn, should have preordered to save that extra 1 cent haha. That 1 cent remaining in my balance is going to kill me lol

  • I agree it's not a deal as it's the normal price, BUT, I think it's good value. Obviously I'd love if it was a free upgrade, we've had free upgrades for years and still do with many a game, but I think we've been spoiled. Between PS3/Vita to PS4 to PS5 cross buys like Hotline Miami (which ironically, I never paid for, I got the original game via PS+, then when Vita dropped it was cross buy so it counted as a new purchase and I actually owned it, then the PS4 version was comped with that, as was the PS5), and the continued push for backward compatibility, we have it a lot better than we used to. In terms of a new released version, I think 15 is probably reasonable, especially if you had the standard version on PS4 and then this new version includes all the DLC and whatnot too. I'd like it to be free, but $15 is a fair price when it's more than just a straight re-release anyway

BUT, still not a deal per OzB

The more we buy into this current lazy Sony (Remakes, Remaster, Rerelease, Re-rubbish quick effort) - The more Sony will push them to us, and less original games they make.

  • +1

    Bring back Killzone!

    • That would be nice. And resistance

  • Great deal. The remaster was only just released so I think this is excellent value. I just upgraded my PS4 copy.

I had two options - $15 to upgrade my disc copy and $15.01 to upgrade my digital copy (that I didn’t realise I had).
I upgraded my digital copy. It’s like a 100GB download.
