    Shopback: Shop "at any stores"
A few lines down: "Excludes purchases at Amazon Australia"
    🤦‍♂️

    • +2

      Unfortunately but includes gift cards.

      • +2

        Which is actually better, thanks!

      • Including Amazon gift cards bought on SB app? Seems like exact thing SB would claim is excluded "Ah, those are considered Amazon.cpm.au purchases…"

        • My Amazon gift card triggered the bonus. You could also but swap cards at the same rate and exchange them for Amazon if you really wanted.

  • +3

    Works on GCs, nice!

    • +1

Only reason I posted :) Waited for you to post before I hit submit.

      • My membership expired so I couldn't see the terms, I would have posted otherwise.

        Is there an opt-in cap?

        • +1

I haven't been able to see the cap in the past. Where do you find this? I can only see this offer in the app.

  • -4

    Nup…

  • Is the opt-in visible now? I can't see it. Targeted?

edit: yes. Targeted to Shopback Plus members

  • +2

Usually if it includes gift cards it would say so in the t&cs. I would wait for confirmation first from SB before buying a gift card

    • Thanks.
Will check with @gotyourback Can you please confirm that gift cards are included? The banner lists 'gift card'. Thanks.

@gotyourback Here's the screenshot of banner showing inclusion of gift cards: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/121422/116959/sbplus.p…

      • +3

Let me double confirm for you on this and get back to you soon @trixieb

        • Checking in if you have an update. Buying for superswap but didnt see it tracks in the bonus.

          • @thanks9527: T&Cs in the app were updated this morning to include gift cards. I bought the Shell gift card and $5 bonus tracked in about an hour.

            • +3

@trixieb: Confirmed with the team and yes gift cards purchases is eligible for the bonus! Do ensure to opt-in into the challenge before making the purchase

    • Yeah, GYB confirmed they weren't included in a recent deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15572876/redir
& my terms don't mention gift cards?

      • Oh no. Not another SB stuff up.

        • That was not on my bingo card for November! Do you have a screenshot of the banner?

    • +2

It does say can spend on gift cards in T&Cs in the app @trixieb

    • +4

      @MiscOzB Thanks.
@brandogs @OutOfTime SB has updated the T&Cs to include gift cards now. Updated this post.

Don't do it! Don't allow yourself to support a paid subscription! It's $5 now but it will NOT stay that price if we go along with this

    • No, milk it while you can, simply cancel it when it is no longer profitable. Customer retaining is a thing.

      • Couldn't disagree with you more. Once everyone is on board they'll milk you and there'll be no escape. You will lose out overall.

        • No escape!? So what they’ll be hiding in your underpants drawer forcing you to pay their subscription at gunpoint?? Lmao

          • +2

@max99: Dumb comment is not helpful

I just checked again. Still not helpful.

You eventually won't be using shopback because it's behind a paywall. Or you are but the cashback will go down overall when fees are considered. It's a business, they're doing this for them, not for you. Maybe they think they have enough customers and are entering a different phase of the business cycle where loss leading isn't worth it.

            • @justtoreply: The reality is the business will have growth targets it is trying to hit, and strategies to meet those targets.

If customers don’t support the subscription business model they’re not just going to shrug their shoulders and go back to loss leading strategy. They will find some other strategy to meet their targets. Spoiler alert: we are all going to lose out eventually no matter which strategy they pick. You said it yourself, it’s a business, they’re not doing anything for our benefit.

By the way I’m a Plus subscriber and very happy with it. Earned an additional $110 cashback on accommodation booking this morning with upsized Expedia offer, an additional $23 yesterday with upsized Petpost offer. And it has cost me nothing because I used the $5 monthly gift card on something I needed from Amazon.

If you want to leave money on the table while others play the game to our advantage that’s up to you.

  • Only for GOATS.

  • is it eligible if apply $5 from joined shop+?

    • I just used the $5 monthly promo towards this month's Shopback Giveaway(100% cashback).

I think this $5 is counted as partial payment like cashback balance so that it is fine to use with a spend target offer, similar to $EDR redemption.

      • is $5 tracked?
wonder if it's "Shopback Giveaway" then it may be excluded as listed in terms.

        • +3

I am just saying a way to turn the $5 promo credits back to cash, not for this $50 spend (but it should work according to me and others). Since SB system may be glitchy, use it on a $10+ Shopback Giveaways option.

          • @Neoika: got you mean to cash out, I bought that "0 prize" with coles MC :)

            • @test8888: This month new Shopback Giveaways, up to $309 as I calculate.

            • @test8888: I has been doing the same for 2-3 months as well.
cashing out from Coles MC. lol

    • +2

I used the challenge and monthly discount on a $50 card, both the regular and challenge cashback tracked and the discount applied at order

  • -4

This should be targeted offer as it is not available to all shop back users

    • +3

No, its already listed as Shopback Plus. If it was a subset of these customers it would be a targeted deal.

So much angst against Plus….. SB do have to.keep adjusting the model…..free isnt really free remember.

  • +2

This is how they make you pay for membership and then slowly slowly they keep ripping you off !

    • +1

      enshittification

  • +1

Thanks OP. Need to remind myself after 4pm.

  • +2

why do people support this shit ? subscription for everything.. Tiering up a service which used to be normally not lock to a subscription.

There is no bargain either. This woulnt have been under a subscription m.

    • -1

Your pc office suite have become subscriptions too. It's the only way companies can make some side hustle money.
At least this one isn't with ads after you subscribe

      • At least this one isn't with ads after you subscribe

        so far.

      • can still buy full office 2019 for like US$28 via bitsdujour

    • At least they pay it back if you buy a gift card

      • +1

Think they try to bet on you forgetting

        • Can't you just cancel straight away and then again resub when needed?

          • @Mortin: Not sure. Sometimes there is so much hocus pocus I'm not sure it is even worth the time. Don't forget you need to check balance and make sure you got them all secured somewhere.

          • @Mortin: Yeah can cancel right after and still get the remainder of the sub month.

        • +3

$5 monthly credits can be used towards Shopback Giveaways(100% cashback) and cash out after 5 days. Always use it early to prevent it.

  • Could we purchase 50 GC for this deal, and also use monthly 5 dollars off GC together?

  • ShopBack plus can (profanity) off along with anyone that supports it tbh

  • +1

ShopBack Plus = bad paid subscription on a free service for bonus deals
Everyday Extra = good paid subscription on a free service for bonus deals

    Have I got this right?

    • +1

Isnt that ShopBack plus gives you $5 free GC per month?
as long as you redeem the $5 GC, I think there's nothing lose + getting slightly better cashback rate / offers

  • Does it work if we sign up for Shopback Plus now?

    • @hjin The app changed to the Plus version when I had signed up in Sep. Hopefully you would be able to access Plus benefits when you signed up now. You would find the challenge under "Earn More".

  • Just to double check if I sign up for ShopBack plus and buy a $50 gift card with the $5 off, therefore spending $45 on the gift card, will that count as spending $50 or am I better off using it for ShopBack giveaway and buying the gift card outright?

    • am I better off using it for ShopBack giveaway and buying the gift card outright?

In case of issues, do the above.
I wasn't aware the $5 could be used for ShopBack giveaway until it was mentioned here.

    • @UsernameNA Your first option works too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15871699/redir

If you want to buy Amazon gift card, instead of the 2% Amazon card, remember the Shopback Home 2.5% cashback includes Amazon. However it's only accessible through westpac lounge now. You don't need to pay by Westpac card, but you do need a Westpac card linked to access it via the lounge.

Westpac lounge > get exclusive offers on gift cards > Exclusive offers > ShopBack Home Gift Card. Shopback Home is saved to Prezzee and includes the following retailers as of 5 mins ago:

Amazon, Amart, Best & Less, Bodum, Bunnings, Dusk, eBay, Ettitude, Eva, Freedom, Ikea, Officeworks, Plants in a box, Sheridan, Spotlight, Temple & Webster

    • +1

      thx champ

    • +2

If you've ever bought shopback home before you can go to past purchases and click 'buy again', without having a westpac card.

      • Thanks! Didn't know that.

      • @Ezio Can you still get the extra Westpac cashback rate without paying with a Westpac card?

        • 2.25% without westpac card.

        • +2

Confirmed. You don't need to pay by Westpac card.

          • @hamza23: Do you mean you got 2.5% cashback without a Westpac card?

            • +2

              @trixieb: Yes, $1.25 on $50.

Edit: Ah Ezio pointed out that you only get 2.25% without the westpac lounge, using the buy again workaround, whereas I got 2.5% via the westpac lounge access. Either way you don't need to pay by westpac card.

      • It just came up when I searched through the search bar, don't think I've bought that before

    • so weird, it says

The ShopBack Home Swap eGift Card - One card, many options! It can be swapped for Bunnings, IKEA, Freedom, Temple & Webster, Sheridan, Amart, Spotlight.'

      on my side

      • +4

That's how it has always been, Amazon isn't listed in the text but it's one of the swap options.

    • $1.25 cashback tracked initially (2.5%) and $5 bonus tracked now.

      • Purchased Amazon gift card 3 hours ago, and $5 stil has not tracked. Only the $1 (2% of $50).

  • How long is it supposed to take to mark the challenge as complete? Bought a $50 gift card and the 2% cashback tracked but challenge is still in progress.

    • My challenge just got marked as completed, it took about an hour.

      • Mine's been 3hrs and still nothing.

    • $5 bonus also took about an hour to track.
