I'll be visiting Malaysia towards December. I can purchase at the moment and activate later right?

  • Is 4G/5G network accessible in every country and then reduced to 3G speeds? Just want to make sure it's not the 3G network we are relegated to.

I'll use the UK/Ireland sim as an example - https://esimdash.com/products/uk-ireland

Unlimited Basic Plan: 7-30 days with the first 1GB of data per day at maximum network speeds; after that, speeds are reduced to 128kbps (3G speed).
Unlimited Premium Plan: 7-30 days with the first 2GB of data per day at maximum network speeds; after that, speeds are reduced to 128kbps (3G speed).
Unlimited Platinum Plan: 7-30 days with the first 3GB of data per day at maximum network speeds; after that, speeds are reduced to 128kbps (3G speed).
7 days 5/10GB, 15 days 10/20GB, 30 days 20/50GB: No speed reduction until the data is

Why use an esim when I can just purchase a Sim In said country?

Some of this stuff seems Hella expansive

Pretty sure when I went to Bali and bought. Sim there and got 50gig data it was like $15 or something. This joint wants to change like $90. :/

Totally agree. I have two SIM slots on my phone so no worries.

Ty for confirming I'm not mad lol :)

        • As sane as any OzBargainer mate lol

    • Can get expensive and time consuming if you are country hopping and there is no roaming agreement in place like the EU.

For the best experience you really need access to all the available networks (4g/5g) so will be interesting to see if ESIM Dash offer this otherwise a local sim may be the better option for speed and coverage.

      • In your first example that still sounds like an esim is not going to fix it?

I must be missing anything. Is an esim a physical thing. Or bound to your Sim in which case if you country hop- won't U need to replace it every time anyway?

        • Not sure I understand what you're asking?

EU as an example has roaming agreements - you buy a physical sim or esim in the Republic of Ireland for instance and you can use it without paying roaming charges throughout the EU.

          https://n.vodafone.ie/roaming.html

If you are hopping countries which don't have roaming agreements you'll either have to pay more with roaming charges or buy another local sim.

@shutuptakemymoney101: yeh im not 100% sure what im asking either. i dont understand the Esim thing.

ill probably just buy a sim when i get to Europe lol.

i do understand the roaming thing you outlined - thanks for that. helps!

            ava good one

@Kossac: eSim is basically just scan a QR code with your phone's camera and then tell the phone to use the eSim instead of the physical sim, after you have done it once it will all make sense.

If you're holidaying in Europe (particularly EU countries) a local sim will probably be the way to go.

              Enjoy your holiday :-)

Careful guys. Prices are inflated. Also these guys dont seem to have much track record so no idea how is their support like. I compared with travelkon. Even after this discount, travelkon is cheaper. Travelkon also known to be more reliable.

Prices for Mexico are expensive. Can grab a Telcel Sim at a 7-11 for much cheaper and top up when data runs low.

This place wants $100 too much for the same thing.

Can recommend Travelkon! Been super reliable and much better prices even without discount compared to this.
