@nicholasv @BargainsGrabber remember that time when we got thousands worth of any shoes of our choice from here for $0.00 🤣👍

  • Good price. No love for 2E wide though.

    • What's that?

      • +3

The shoe width. A lot of shoes - especially running shoes. Come in different sizes and widths. D (which this is) is medium. Then you have 2E wide and 4E extra wide.

        • +2

Thank you. I never knew about shoe widths. My left pinkie has blisters because of my shoe width. I need to try on some 2E and 4E sizes.

          • @gamesnepal: No worries! I went into Athletes Foot and did their 'analysis' which I found really helpful (even though I was sceptical) but went for the 2E myself and they fit great.

    • yea, got Kayano 30 2E last week and its great. will keep an eye on 31.

  • +1

not sure i like this new design - looks silly

    • design is a bit weird. the shoe feels like walking on pillows and im like an inch taller.

    • It's not about looks. Try one on and you will realise how it works.

    • +3

And my physiotherapist has gone from recommending and using the ASICS 29s, to warning of potential ankle injuries with the 30/31s. Although they are really comfy, so were the 29s.

      • -1

Yeah they're a bit too much TBH. They should offer two designs and see which people prefer instead pulling this whole manoeuvre. the shoes are most likely comfy, but they are no longer esh enough for this bargain hunter to wear

      • My podiatrist used to swear by them as well and love my 29s. I have heard of people not liking the redesign but I need a new pair.

What do they recommend other than the new Kayanos?

        • +2

          I still swear by them.

Other options: Hoka Bondi (softer) or Clifton (firmer). The nimbus is more of a tarmac shoe, not good for heavier people.
          Cheaper: GT2000
          Newbalance 860-880
          Saucony: Echelon
          Altra: Via Olympus
          On: Cloudmonster Cloudstratus
          Brooks: Ghost Max
          Nike: Pegasus

      • That's 100% incorrect.

Originally there was suspicion about higher stack leading to ankle and knee injury but that was proven otherwise.

The 29 was the first rocker Kayano. The 30 has more elongation on the heel to promote early first contact. The 31 seems a bit watered down.

All in all, the 31 is more similar to the 29.

    • Trying to be hoka but offer 1% quality

    • Picked up a pair today, employee serving me said these two colours were limited edition for Paris Olympics. And ASICS basically forced them to stock them haha. The other, standard, colours for Kayano 31s are generally nicer, But aren't included in this clearance price, sadly.

  • Have had a pair for a couple of months now and love them, definite improvement on previous models.

  • 31s already!! Pretty sure I have some 21s new in box still.

    • i fell the same…

  • I know these are stability running shoes, but are they suitable for daily walking?

    • +2

      Absolutely

  • +2

If you dont' need them right now and not too fond of the colours too, Asics store last few years have had 30% nearly everything including the kayanos for black friday which isn't too far off.
Have a hole in mine so waiting for that to get a new pair, not many choices for shoes for me since i'm a 4E

    • 30% off for the current gen Kayano is usually rare. I definitely think the Nimbus 26 and Kayano 30 will be heavily discounted.

The professionals code is 35% off so they wouldn't really profit.

      • nah the 30s (latest gen at time) were definitely on sale - i remember because i bought a pair in japan in october think it was cheap then saw it had gone on sale a month later for even cheaper here.

    • +2

They're so easy to get hole in them. All mine had holes when they were still very new. And I didn't wear them very often, just for the run.

      • +2

Their toe boxes are garbage these days.

I've had rips in my toe boxes in both GT-2000s and Nimbus' in less than 2 months…. very annoying and so many people online complaining of the exact same problem.

        • yeah have the hole in the big toe and reading online when people have the same problem others are like wear socks and cut your nails… which isn't the issue because i do both

          • @hazzareth: Same. Cut my toes weekly and wear standard thickness bonds socks.

Don't have any issue with any of my other runners with soft breathable fronts. Only the ASICS…..

      • I used to have the same problem. Id have a holw over my big toe when my shoe was still relatively new. I did start wearing thicker socks and now the shoe gets worn significantly less. Im actaully replacing them before i get a hole.

      • ASIC is one of the worst quality shoes. Brooks adrenaline shits all over them

    • +2

Yes, bought the Kayano 30 in last year's Black Friday through the ShopBack CB deal below

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816215

  • Not too many colorways for the 31s - anyone know if ASICS usually do a second batch of colours? When…?

  • I had Rebel price-match my all black Kayano 30’s last year to a store that had a different colour on sale! If there’s a Rebel close by to you, worth going in and asking, just don’t mention the colour!

  • Good shoe to have in rotation, mind you it is very boaty though.

  • Just bought this one few days back at this price. Feedback is that much better compared sketchers, you feel like walking on cloud. Apparently it was suggested by Podiatrists to treat Plantar fasciitis. This or Nimbus 25/26. But not Kayano 30 or earlier.

  • grabbed a pair of these today. they feel great. looking forward to going for my first run in them.
