Meross Garage Door Opener Not Working

Hey guys, I’ve got the HK version of the Meross MSG100 and having some issues.

Customer support hasn’t been able to help. They’ve sent a replacement unit which also isn’t opening the garage door. I’ve set it up all according to the manual. I’m fairly confident everything is correct.

App is set up correctly and when I use it I hear the clicking sound so there’s definitely a working connection with the Meross however the door just doesn’t open. I can still use my remotes though.

I’ve tried swapping wires around and trimming them but still nothing.

If someone has any ideas, I’m willing to give it a go as I’d like this to work.

P.s. yes the comparability test did work. I used the included wire and it did short it and open the garage

  • The click sound is a good sign. Check the connections going to the garage. Can you take a photo of how you have everything connected? Are the two sensor boxes close enough to each other?

The sensor works fine. I get a notification when it’s open and closed if I use the remote to control my garage

      • Why are you shorting GND & PE? Remove that and re-test.

        • Are you referring to the little metal piece between the middle two? That was already there from prior.

I’ve tested without that and it doesn’t work either.

My garage door is a Vicway VT1000E. According to the manual it needs to have a wire between gnd and PE.

          • @Arkhxm: Door+GND are supposed to be shorted. PE+GND is for a photo beam so try turning off this setting.

            • @sumyungguy: Sorry when you say turn off what do you mean?

I’ve tried removing the metal wire between gnd and PE from the right terminal and that still didn’t work. I haven’t touched the left terminal, I don’t believe I need to?

              Thanks

              • @Arkhxm: In the manual: 5. Photo beam setting

                • @sumyungguy: Turned it off and it still doesn’t work :(
Am I meant to leave the wire between Gnd and PE or remove that too?

                  • @Arkhxm: My apologies, we're been running around in circles. Re-test the two terminals that when shorted manually, make the door open and close. If the Meross is connected to these terminals it will close the circuit. If no resolution, you'll need a multimeter to conform the Meross is working.

  • How'd you go with the reply to your comment here?

    • Surprisingly never saw that reply so thanks for that. However It’s already set up with the wire between ground and PE

  • Do you have other home automation devices that are working normally?

    • Yep. Everything else is fine.

Did you try turning it on and off again.

Prove it's a meross issue and not a garage door issue by
    - disconnect the wires coming from the meross
    - using a short piece of wire or something similarly conductive and bridge/short between those two pins.

If your garage door opens you know it's a meross issue, if it doesn't, then that would point to it being your garage door controller.

All the meross does is close a contact between those two wires to trigger a command to 'move' to the garage door controller.

    • Hey, I’ve used the piece of wire that comes with the Meross and it was about to short the garage door and opened. I’ve received a replacement Meross device and it still doesn’t work so at this point I’m unsure what the issue is

So you bridge the same pins as you have the meross connected to and the garage door moved?

If you had a multimeter you could connect it to the two wires from the meross, set it to continuity testing and verify the relay is closing.

There is a setting in the meross app for how long the trigger duration is (how long to keep the connection closed/active). Assuming that's something like the default 2s?

  • It's highly unlikely that you have 2 faulty units.

Ensure the power beam setting is off (showing 11) and remove the wire between GND and PE.

Remove the Meross wires. If you short GND and PB, does that open/close the garage?

DOOR and GND are also connected. Manual says:

    1. Pass door protection
This function ensure that the door can’t be opened until the small passing door is closed. The door panel won’t be damaged (FIG. 18).

I wonder if it needs to be connected?

Also, what power supply are you using for the Meross?

  • This is a different brand but this YouTube video might help.
