Born before, but still actively using.

          • +2

@PainToad: I don't know where you get your experience from but no gen Z is not watching skibidi toilet on tiktok. they think it's dumb. might quote "skibidi brainrot" once in awhile just for the meme/troll value but no it's gen Alpha who absolutely loves the actual content and watches it 100 times over in one sitting and is a big enough fan to beg mom and dad to buy this $79 figure.

maybe start here by seeing where it comes from I had to look it up because I wasn't sure of the name. it's a show for kids seriously geezus. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27814427/ (and I'm pretty sure the original character came from a short content video on youtube which went viral which was just as dumb)

Who do you think I am? The king of Ohio?

  • +20

Kind of parents that buy their kids this garbade are the same parents that would eventually blame society and social media for how their sh*tty kid turned out.

    • +21

I wouldn't buy my kids this shit but that is hyperbole on a whole new level. We have had shit products pumped out since I was a kid in the 80s, each generation has their own garbage that older generations shake their fists at along with the clouds. It is an overpriced junk toy.

      • -6

        hyperbole

The point I was trying to make is - there’s a type of parents who would buy their kids anything they ask for and offer zero insight, basically absolving themselves of actually ‘parenting’ their child and helping them make better decisions.
I don’t blame the Paul/Tate brothers as much as I blame the parents that let their little kids that watch them, continuously buy whatever scammy crap they have to sell.
In short - parents need to actually parent rather than being lazy or having this daft progressive approach of treating their kids as if they were fully formed adults.

Rubbish toys of the 80’s cost F all and weren’t this rubbish and didn’t sell much as what we see today.

      • +3

I was a kid in the 80s and the first shit product I had was Mr. Hanky around 1999.

      • Both overpriced plastic crap

        • -1

Overpriced compared to, say, fancy $230 marathon shoes for walking in, or did you mean that in more of an “each to their own” kinda way? 😉

          • -1

@MattyD: can’t be bothered to look it up but it’s a troll comment.

about a year ago there was this user commenting variations of “cheap plastic crap” in posts, once I saw it twice I looked up history and they were commenting it on every deal that had plastic in it. weird but true. maybe environment’s important to them.

    • +3

I mean theres stores lined with Funk-o-pops or whatever they're called.

    • Spoiler: the landfill it ends up in is the buyer's brain

    • Literally the only place I've heard of it was last year a kid at the kinder I work at, absolutely lovely kid but clearly too much iPad/YT, went on about it for a few days.

Even he got bored of it after a week lmao, I don't know what it is still. Might see the movie for a laugh if it actually gets made.

    • quarter pounder you work at mcD's right?

quick question. is it possible for a beef patty to be cooked AND cold in the burger? I mean are they frozen raw or are they frozen cooked?

      • They're frozen raw - though it should be pretty hard for it to be completely cold unless it sat out of the UHC for awhile.

        • at least it was cooked then.
not frozen cold. but it was cool and had a lot of water on it. maybe it was the AC I dunno. either way I guess I'm not really interested in going back. sorry quarter pounder. 😂

Jesus christ, we really are in one of the timelines of all time. I grew up on YTPs as well but I never expected Sexellent Spy or smack noice to be a (profanity) $80 slice of merch. (although tbh if it was… Can't say I wouldn't buy it)

Never though I'd live to see the day a Half Life 2 asset would derive Gmod to then derive some hot garbage video to crawl up the value chain 20 years later from Half Life as a plastic toy more expensive than the game.

And we still dont even have Half Life 3.
