Where to Get Cheap Woodchip Mulch in WA?

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good supplier/ shop to get cheap woodchip mulch from in WA?
I am after about 10 LBCM.

I have looked at a few shops on Google and Facebook Marketplace - for 10 LBCM the prices range from $350-600 which seems really pricey!
Or is that just the going price for woodchip mulch these days?

Thanks in advance!

    • Thanks for sharing that is really cool although I can’t help but notice it’s only in the expensive suburbs. They would probably just pay someone to maintain their garden so other suburbs would have been good haha

    • My local council offers some free mulch as well similar to this - the problem is that the mulch is made from clippings from people's green bins so they are mostly not woodchips and could contain a lot of weed seeds.

    • Wow this looks like a really good service. Have you received any mulch this way?

I registered on Mulchnet on Friday and on Monday morning there was a huge pile of mulch on the front lawn as requested.

        This was years ago though.

And its fresh mulch not the treated ones, someone has just cut down a tree and grinded it and I have saved them from having to dispose it.

Some people may not like this type of mulch.

    • I was listed for the free for many, many months with no luck so switched to the paying for delivery and it's still been a few months with no word. Have to keep renewing request monthly. I guess it depends if they're in your area.

    • Nice! I registered yesterday and got a truckload this morning! Thank you so much!!

    Rising spirits plants and outdoors - (08) 9949 1674

    • Very convenient

      • It's in WA, that's what OP wanted apparently.

  • In Sydney it's free. Depending where did the work, it saves them going further to dispose of the green waste. So check a few different operators.

  • try on gumtree, ppl just leave it on verge

    • verge ???

      • yes, 'verge' (noun): a strip (often of nature) between the limits of a property and the road outside, adjacent to most housing developments and prevalent since the rise of rapid post WW2 suburban high density dwelling from circa 1950 onwards.

when was the last time you left your house?

horses, carts, open drains, town cryers - all gone!

ppl often leave it on the verge of their homes, after tree lopping and notify those in need via gumtree, in the interest of helping their neighbours

Hank Scorpio : Woodchip Mulch? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Woodchip Mulch! Homer, there's four places. There's the Woodchip Hut, that's on third.
    Homer : Uh-huh.
    Hank Scorpio : There's Chips-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Shred-Your-Trees.
    Homer : Mm-Hmm.
Hank Scorpio : That's on third. Mulch Chips, Sweet Timber… Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the Woodchip Mulch complex on third.
Homer : Oh, the Woodchip district!
    Hank Scorpio : That's right.

  • Isn't there a quarantine on mulch movements at the moment? I've seen temporary signs on the side of the road in a few suburbs around Perth.

To go on a delivery list to receive a truckload of mulch to your door. Read carefully. Not suitable for me sadly.

    • Can you share why this isn't suitable for you? Are you worried about the type of mulch you will receive?

      • I have a shared driveway/verge so I'd have to get all my neighbours on board with it is all. Otherwise I'd be all over it, love the idea
