      • How do you know what they have?

        • +1

I don’t. I’m making assumptions even though you shouldn’t assume because that’s rude.

  • Keen to get feedback on recent purchases through AOC. Have read a few posts where people are saying that purchases are held "subject to validation". My eldest is a Uni student, so can legitimately get Edu store discount, but AOC is Education Union members only.

Bought iPad Pro m4 for pickup at Apple Store no issues at all pickup as usual

  • Better wait until Black Friday or “back to school”

    • When do back to school promotion usually start, is that the one where you get a free pair of airpods or couple hundred dollars worth of gift card?

      • +2

Back to school should be in Feb with free AirPods. Gift card back usually comes during Black Friday but you lose the edu discount.

      • +1

This years started Jan 4th and I believe they gave a 'scaled' gift card instead of AirPods this year (i.e $240 GC when you bought a Mac, less for iPad)

I'm really hoping someone comes up with an AI model that requires a terabyte of storage. Then Apple will update their base storage and I can delete whatever the AI is using to have a normal amount on my computer.

Im typing this on a M3 MBP. Ive owned the M2 & M1 but I cant recommend anyone reward apple with more money if you have ANY of these already!

When my LENOVO 16" AMD with 32gb 1tb and OLED was a mere $1300 delivered, with apple like use time and backlit keyboard ~ it kicks sand into my MBP face for way less… the ONLY M4 worth a look MIGHT be the still to be announced iMac Mini but 256gb is SHAME ON YOU APPLE and $270 to get to 512gb is so bad this is the first time now in many years (from 17" MBP to M3) going back to windows/lenovo ~ apple can suck it this year and even 512gb would have been my base minimum to even consider them this year!

the Lenovo 2k 120hz OLED is way way way batter than my MBP and its backlit too the keyboard!!!
32gb is needed now with Ai, as it eats 8gb on its own for local models
256gb is a JOKE, a very bad one in 2024

We/You cant keep rewarding apple with money for SHITE!!!

    • +4

      Yet you do.

    • +3

Congrats with your Lenovo happiness, may it fill your life with your own opinions to pass down to the unworthy.

      • It was apple getting crap about 8gb that got us to 16gb. Lets do the same again and make them goto 512 or better 1tb. With 2tb now 150 qne 4tb 300 its insane to offer 256gb in 2024 except as a April fools joke

        • I'm sure it wasn't Apple getting crap, more likely they found that Apple Intelligence forced them, otherwise 8gb would have remained the default.

    • +3

      Cool story.

      way way way batter

      Planning to deep fry it?

    • LENOVO 16" AMD with 32gb 1tb and OLED was a mere $1300 delivered

      What model is it boss?

    • Have an MBP and Lenovo P14s workstation. The Lenovo actually cost more, and the only reason I got it was for the CAD optimised GPU to run CAD software.
Its build quality and general performance is crap compared with an M2 MBP. Plastic vs aluminium case for example. But you can later upgrade RAM and storage on the Lenovo.

If I was only using the machine for personal stuff, it would easily be the Mac. But really, you have to go windows for CAD.

Best at last. Cook knows how to indulge their customers. Just keep waiting.

  • Looks like we're in for a good week of announcements - the mac mini and air if they announce those with similar base specs (16gb ram, potentially more usbc ports) is going to be goooood.

As for this imac, looks like a great dev machine due to the ports - the mac mini pro was the only one that came with four thunderbolt 4 ports, see what the refresh does though.

For anyone else curious, you can get upto 32gb of ram on this one - only if you go for 512gb SSD though. Be interesting to find about the technical reason why - did they make the 256gb on a lower channel bus?

    • I don't recall anyone mentioning the MacBook Air? To me it makes perfect sense, it is their best selling Mac, why would you keep in on the old 3nm process that is more expensive to manufacture, that was the whole reason to jump from M3 to M4.

      • Gotta keep an announcement for early 2025. Say March for the MBA.
The M3 MBA came out last March. I know because I had just bought my dad an M2 three weeks before.

    • The technical reason is the same as for the last one @superroach.

Apple needs to make more $$$.

  • JFC this is the price With the education discount..

  • Wow, Gigabit Ethernet is now a $40 option on base model

    • Wasn't it optional on the previous Apple Silicon iMacs as well though since it was built into the power brick?

Here comes Apple, ready to scam its customers again xD

    • +3

If you buy something and you are happy with it, how are you scammed?

    • I've been getting very happily scammed since I realised how much better Apple was when gifted my first iPod Mini :)

  • +2

I never ever understand the computer nerds who constantly come on Apple deals boasting about their 128gb ram gaming pc's for the price of a Macbook with 16gb ram.

We get it, you like specs.

Let us idiots enjoy these products in peace.

I also have a gaming pc I built last year, for gaming. But sometimes people have a purpose for these products, just leave us be ffs.

  • Does the receipt say education pricing? I'm anting to salary sacrifice the purchase through work.

    • +1

I think it just says you're a liar.

  • Does Apple still have the prices listed for the M3 iMacs and have they dropped? Trying to see if I can claim the difference on my credit card with Price protection.

  • Does buying through the AOC Education website show up on the tax invoice? Or in other words is the tax invoice any different from buying normally? Planning to tax deduct for work and don't want any issues to come up later on because of buying through AOC?
