That's a lot of money for something that needs to be pulled out of the water daily to be charged and for something that will most likely need a new battery in 4 years time. What are the costs of parts that will ultimately deteriorate in chlorinated water?

Yup, the battery was the biggest issue for me. My regular floor cleaning robot vacs last about 3-4 years before they need a new battery.

This one will be out in the elements in 40+ degree heat, so I imagine their life would be even less. I opted for a corded one in the end, (Zodiac DX4000) cost a little bit more than this but should hopefully last longer.

  • Does seem expensive thought what are the alternatives?

          • @Lizard Spock: Automatic pool clears that run off your suction often go on sale for about $100. Cartridges for them need replacing maybe once every 6 months and are about $7-$10 each. The foot is about $20 and needs replacing once every couple of years. Pretty low maintenance and should last 4-5 years before any major deterioration

  • I'm still comparing the Wybot C1 at $699 with this Aiper Scuba S1 model, happy to hear others on this?

    • We have the s1 ultra which is great. 1st one died after 48hrs. Replacement is fine. Be careful with baskets.

We run it in economy mode, so it does a quick clean every 48hrs. Usually lasts for 3-4 cleans.

Their s1 skimmer is great, but hard to get. Usually a 1 month wait.

  • My onga bullshark stays in my pool except when swimming, needs no maintenance and certainly doesn't need to be taken out every day, cleaned, recharged and then put back in the pool.

I wouldn't use one of these even if it was given to me for free.

  • Pentair Prowler 920 is a Dolphin S200 clone which often goes on sale for $1500. Is excellent and like the dolphin has replaceable parts and is well known to your local pool shop. Wired.

Ours stays in and runs daily (can be scheduled) due to high leaf load.

    • Also got a 920, and run it on average 3 times a week. Can recommend.

  • Aiper and the likes maybe the future but I don't think the battery tech is advanced enough to provide juice for an underwater vaccum …I have an s200 second hand for 8 years now..I wish it could detect the debris ..but it is dumb and wired and does a great job ..vaccums under water need a LOT of power since they are operating aginst the water and gravity ..not to mention being able to capture dust and climb stairs is a must have. I would like a wireless underwater vaccum that could gather dust and return home but at the moment that does not seem possible ..at this price..get a Dolphin

  • Crazy to be spending this much on something you just leave in your pool. Also looking at the last post it appears Aiper don't like abiding by Aus consumer law and honoring their warranty.

Im also out with this comment from another user 'I've been charging it every night'

    • Negging to highlight potential issue with after sales support as linked above

Pentair Rebel 2…less than half the price, driven by suction and does an outstanding job. Easily replaceable parts. Cleans my 32k litre pool in about 2hrs, and takes roughly the same effort to operate / manage.
