601

Earn up to $50 cashback promotional offer is available when a new Bankwest Easy Transaction Account is opened via https://www.bankwest.com.au/personal/bank-and-save/lp/cashba… between 15 October 2024 and 6 December 2024 by 6:00pm AWST and the below conditions are met:

  1. Open your account - Open a new Easy Transaction Account online in minutes.

  2. Make your purchases - Make 10 settled and eligible purchases (5 in your first 30 days, and 5 in your second 30 days) using your linked Platinum Debit Mastercard®.

  3. Get your cashback - All done. You'll receive two $25 payments once you’ve made your eligible and settled purchases.

Limited time offer, not available to customers who currently hold or have held an existing Bankwest transaction account in the past 12 months. Cashback payments will be paid 30 days from the end of the qualifying 30-day period.

What are eligible purchases?
Eligible purchases are purchases made with your linked Bankwest Platinum Debit Mastercard but exclude:

  • cash withdrawals
  • cash-out transactions at any merchant
  • payments and transfers from the Account (for example, BPAY, Internal Transfers, Pay Anybody and Faster Payments)
  • direct debits
  • gaming, lottery or gambling transactions
  • purchases/transactions that are subsequently refunded to the account
  • fraudulent transactions.

What are settled purchases?
Settled purchases are transactions that have been finalised by the merchant and posted to your statement. ‘Authorisation Only’ transactions are not fully processed and are considered as pending transactions. The date the transaction settles may differ from the day the purchase/transaction was performed.

T&Cs -

  • Customers must not have held (either in your own name or jointly) any ‘Bankwest Transaction Account’ in the previous 12 month period from the date of account opening. In the case of joint accounts, all account owners must meet this condition to be considered eligible for the promotion.

  • To earn $25 cashback for each 30-day period commencing from the Account Open Date, for 2 consecutive periods, you need to make 5 ‘settled’ (fully processed and not pending) ‘eligible purchases’ for each 30-day period. For example, if the Account was opened on 24 October 2024, the following periods would apply: 24/10/24 – 22/11/24 and 23/11/24 – 22/12/24 in which the customer will need to make 5 settled purchases for each 30-day period. A maximum of $50 cashback is payable, i.e. $25 for each 30-day period.

The cashback payment will be credited to the Easy Transaction Account within 30 days from the end of the qualifying 30-day period, providing the Bankwest Easy Transaction Account is still open at the time of crediting.

You will be ineligible for any cashback payment if your account is closed or reopened, switched to another Bankwest Transaction or Savings Account or the account is considered not to be in ‘good standing’ at any time prior to the cashback being credited to your account.

              • @Ave Maria: I received the physical card within 3 business days and the welcome letter arrived much later.

  • Ok, So i tried opening an account using the link on Sunday 17/11, When i got to the ID verification, I only have a Proof Of Age card (Old version) as i don't have either passport or drivers license

They rejected the Proof Of Age card & gave me an applicant number & told me to take a ID verification form to the post office

Post Office is just a 5 min walk for me so the next day (Monday morning) i went in with my ID & told them the situation & they said they cant print the ID verification form from their end & would have to go the library for it

Library is just around the corner so i wen there got the form printed & took it to post office, The lady started filling out the details on their end & it asked for a expiry date for my ID which it doesn't have, She said she wouldn't be able to proceed & i would have to contact Bankwest & ask them what other forms of ID they would accept, Called them, Was on hold for half hour, Spoke to someone & asked what other forms of ID they would accept, They said a birth certificate & Health Care Card as that has residential address, Got those documents to scan at post office & was told it would up to 2 business days for confirmation, Didn't hear anything by Wednesday, Rang up & they said they had received documents & would process verification & would another 2 business days, Only yesterday when i logged into the bank app i saw the account opened

Seems as though i'm not the only one that has had ID verification issues

Also, Should i do the 5 transactions at different places so there's no issues?

    • I don't trust the bank yet so I'm making 5 transactions at different places so there's no reason to fail the eligibility.

      • Yeah gonna make my 5 purchases tomorrow when I get paid

It's funny when I rang Bankwest up & I said that the "Eligible Purchases" need to be more transparent in terms of is it specific to how much you have to purchase each transaction & she agreed

So I'll just make 5 small purchases at 5 different locations

    • Hey,

I've just had the same thing happen to me.

Where did you find your application number though? I didn't get one sent to me… hope I can open the account in time for the promotion haha

      Thanks

      • They automatically sent me one after I tried to use my proof of age card

Maybe give them a call & they should be able to open an account for you over the phone

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for five simple online purchases under $1?

Buy Amazon gift card of $1 each

      • Wonder if the Revolut deposit would count

For future peoples if they ever come back to this.. easiest way is to buy something from woolworths self checkout and do split payments. E.g. A $1 grape, split it for 20c x 5 times.

      • should be any amount? I used to split 2c each :)

      • This is interesting

I remember when RACQ Bank did a promotion nearly 3 years ago for new customers only, You only had to make 5 settled purchases to receive $100

I did 5 very small purchases at Woolies & received the $100 within 2 weeks after

      • someone said the bank may not like that - i dont know man…

Bankwest tried to stitch me up when they had a similar promo to earn 10k qantas points.

Told me it was per calendar month not statement period, then when that failed told me that payments to zip/Afterpay were not eligible transactions even though by their own t&c definitions they were.

Took a fair bit of follow up to get points

  • Couldn’t apply for one. No idea why. Unless I have an account and never closed it.

  • has anyone received there 2 x $25 yet?

    • +1

Yes, I received the first $25 about 18 days after period one ended. I only shopped at one online store on 5 different days. The weird thing is that I received a notification saying I didn't make the required 5 purchases during period one about 2 days after period one ended, but I chose to ignore it and I am right.

    • Received my first $25 cashback yesterday
