Was trying to find VentraIP renewal coupons for domains and found this gem of a deal.

New / yearly renewal for .com.au domains is $9.95. Basically half price of VentraIP

  • Are any of these domain registrars actually cheaper than Cloudflare in the long term?

CloudFlare didn't support com.au domains when I last checked.

      considering cloudflare doesn't offer .com.au - yes

I've been using Quantum Core for my .com.au's past 3+ years and they've been solid

I don't like how you're locked into CF's DNS when registering domains with them, so use porkbun.com (who host their inbuilt DNS on CF, but you have the option to use other DNS providers as required)

      • I don't like how you're locked into CF's DNS

Do you not like lock-in on principle, or is there some negative about CF DNS?

Doesn't suit my setup as I run my own

  • Not a fantastic experience so far, tried to transfer two domains and their system identified it as fraudulent and cancelled the order!

    • Reach out to support - real human answers tickets and when I've contacted in past they've been really helpful

Damn just transferred mine over to ventra. Webcentral were trying to sting me for $30!

    • That sounds about right for Webcentral if you're still in the transfer stages renewals are typically not applied automatically so you could start another transfer and then apply the renewal elsewhere once it's landed at VentraIP.

Doesnt seem to be a time limited offer. What is the renewal cost after first year ?

The better deal is probably to pay upfront for 5 years at $49.75 (works out $9.95 per year) to lock in the discounts.

Renewal is $9.95 per year as well so unless they price hike would be the same

They've already increased their pricing to absorb the registry level price increase that came into affect October 1. So this pricing will survive as long as they want to continue offering a loss leader.

Quantum Core .au pricing $9.20 to $9.95 from October 1.

They notified users of this via email in advance.

notJV, is correct the best thing to do is lock your pricing in at the beginning of the registration or during your next renewal period which can only be done in the last 90 days of your current licensing period.

And as always a self-promotion mentioned for the ozbargain wiki. I try to keep it updated, but not as often as my spreadsheet.

Suggestion is great! Will do this for the next renewal.

Wiki looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.

    • Definitely the way to do it. There’s no way you’ll still be paying ten bucks in four years time.
