Not Approved for Mobile Plan through JB (Telstra)

Today I went to buy a discounted Pixel from JB Hi-Fi by signing up to a 24 month plan, and I was rejected by the system.

I think it’s because I made the mistake of cancelling a Telstra 24 month plan that I’d signed up for to get a $1200 JB Hi-Fi voucher.

Do I have any options here? Is it worth trying again next week? Can I get on live chat with Telstra?

    Cancelling a number from a previous $1200 gift card deal live chat is telling me:

    How many times have you done this?

    • I've only done one cancellation in contract before, and stupidly I tried it today prior to getting the Pixel deal. I originally signed up to this contract less than a month ago.

      I was trying to port my existing non-Telstra number over.

      "Available to port-in and new customers only"

      The only other 'negative' things I've done are sign up to various cheap Boost SIMs.

          Plenty of people have successfully cancelled multiple contracts and signed up successfully.

    You might have churned too many Boost sims.

    I think there are limits but others can comment on that.

    How many sims have you churned exactly?

    • Probably 10-12 over 10 years

  • As their system says new customers, maybe their logic is since you signed up less than 2 years ago for a 2 year contract it means you're not a new customer because technically u should still be on that contract. (just a guess… I dont actually know)

    Apologies for going off topic, but why are Jb's and HN's phone+plan deals in store only? I really don't like their stores lol. Telstra and Optus offer online signup for their own plan+phone deals, so it should be possible?
