I use this setup at home (bar the mower, as I went petrol for that) and it's good stuff. Never had an issue and can pretty much get the whole 200m^2 lawn and garden done with a single charge on a battery.

    EDIT:

Also with these bonus points, i'm pretty sure you have to still spend the full amount then you get a $200 credit to spend in store on your next purchase.

  • Seems a little strange to throw in the 18V lawn mower for free with a 54V kit…… then again, the 54V mower is $1449…..for some reason.

    • Can the two included batteries be used with the mower?

      • +1

Yeah, 54v batteries work in 18v tools, but not the other way around.

  • Adding another perspective, I hope ; started using Dewalt about 10 years ago in a small maintenance business, kept updating the tools including a lot of Flexi 54 volt. Unfortunately over the last 5 years almost all the newer gear has been no end of trouble, plenty of gear in for warranty repair on multiple occasions and interaction with the Oz agent has been terrible and unhelpful . I guess they have dropped standards and are using cheaper manufacturers. Motor burnouts, lots of switch failures , broken plastic bits etc
I have been replacing the gear with Ryobi HP, 18 and 36v, 6 year warranty and some Ozito 36v with 3 year instant total replacement warranty @ Bunnoise Much happier

    • Interesting Perspective. Only caveat is Ryobi will not honour warranties if you use the tools in any business setting. Nor will Ozito. If the staff at Bunnings are going by the book, that is. I’ve had success and failures with Bunnings staff in the past. So your mileage will vary.

But I’m just saying this cause i dont want you to be left holding your bunnings sausage if a staff member decides to do it the official way and void your warranty.

It does suck to hear your Dewalt tools are needing a lot of service. But at least the warranty covers trade use.

AEG is the longest trade warranty and cheaper than dewalt. I’d probably try them if the Dewalts are giving you headaches. Btw AEG is the trade version of Ryobi

I've bought dozens of Dewalt tools in the last decade and haven't had any fail on me. That and the ergonomics are the main reasons I stick with them. I used to have some Makita stuff (sold) and they were super reliable and nice to use. I have a couple of Bosch Blue tools and they have been reliable as well.

Brands I have had multiple tools or batteries fail on me are Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ozito.

I wanted to try AEG at one point, but a guy I spoke to that does the same job in another city said his workshop bought all AEG stuff last year for a dozen or so workers but they are regretting it. Warranty has been good, but the failure rate is too high, as in 1 or 2 a week.

    • I feel like there may be a fair difference between their workshop and garden tools. Most of my workshop gear is all DeWalt (router, planer, compound saw, circ saw, drill, impact driver, biscuit joiner, etc etc) and it has all been rock solid. But my dad has the 54V chainsaw (on my recommendation……) and he's not a fan. The thing pisses out oil constantly and really seems to struggle with any kind of hardwood.

      • I've found that leaking oil seems to be a common problem on electric chainsaws (Makita and another I can't remember). It certainly seems to chuck more out compared to a petrol saw when not in use. Perhaps there's a subtle difference in the feed mechanism with electric, maybe a larger diameter feed line?

I have had repeated issues with SYDNEY TOOLS over the years, with ordering online and having the tools sent to me. Over 3 weeks ago I ordered a small Lincoln L6V 6L 1.8KW Direct Drive, online (#ST1621836).
The order was transferred to Sydney Tools Joondalup WA. Then I Got the Big surprise!! They sent me an "Display Unit" Not in its Original Box with No Paperwork like Manual, Maintenance, Warranty etc..
Contacted Sydney tools online and they say Joondalup branch would contact me. Well, still waiting…
    Online Customers, BEWARE!

The "Tools" in "Sydney Tools" should clue you in. I had a negative experience at the Blackburn, VIC branch and won't be shopping there again.

Having said that, I'm in the De Walt system with a couple of chargers and multiple 5aH and 2-3aH batteries so will stay, "YELLOW AND BLACK!".

    • I am having some trouble getting a refund from them at the moment as well. Bought a Makita mower set from them a week ago or so on C&C, haven't pick it up, noticed that Total Tools is selling the exactly same set plus $100 bonus this weekend. Called Sydney Tools to price match, offered to meet each other half way by giving me a discount on a hedge trimmer, wouldn't budge.

So I told them I want to cancel, they went sorry you can't. I pointed out to them that I am within my rights to cancel the C&C other based on their return policy, they did not care. I then called their head office, and they were like sorry it's up to the individual shops.

      • May I ask which store is that?
I bought a $200 saw last week. Collected but hasn't opened. I'm thinking of buying this gardening combo, get $200 points and return + re-buy the saw with that credit.

It's the Joondalup shop in WA. But it's a franchise so every shop is different.

I bought this Kit 2 months ago, everything works great so far,The line trimmer and hedge trimmer in particular are excellent. Mower is heavy so I find i use the self propelled switch on thicker/wet grass.

similar deal on Makita in totaltools, "mak ca$h madness"

    • Great find! I had actually bought the $773 set (mower, whipper snipper, blower + 2x 5ah battery) WITHOUT the points last week at Sydney tools but haven't picked up yet.

I'm gonna call and ask them to match or I'll cancel the order and buy from total tools instead.

  • so does this come with the line trimmer attachment? the same model at trade tools seems to
