[Perks] Samsung 55" S90D OLED 4K Smart TV (2024) $1996 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

Just got this deal from their chat. I think this is a good price. I missed the LG C4 55 deal at $1999. I'm assuming this is better?

Haha that coupon is for single use only. Thanks

  • Average price tbh.

    • Haven't seen it in the deal search at OZB

Be warned this is not QD-OLED, as opposed to the 55" S90C (last year's model), which is.

    • This is since the model number is QA55S90DAWXXY

    • The Samsung 55 inch S90C Oled is $1649 through Samsung partners.

D is much better from reviews

        • Which reviews? The RTINGS review I watched a few months ago said they were basically 100% identical

  • This is better than the LG if you are a Dolby Vision hater like Samsung. I would personally prefer all the compatibility I can get.

    • But the LG doesn't support HDR10+ and this does. So it depends what type of content you are intending to watch.

      • Is there any content available in HDR10+ that is not also available in Dolby Vision?

There appear to be a heap of DV content that isn't also available in HDR10+, but is also available in inferior HDR10. All very confusing

        • HDR10+ is backwards compatible with HDR10. So if you go by content. HDR 10 has the most content but the quality is inferior to DV and HDR10+

          • @zonda kaka: Its also the same crap we got for Display Port and HDMI. 2 different standards. one is free and one is paid. Some manufacturers prefer one over the other.

  • Good TV, but don't take the bait on the price right now… should come crashing down towards $1500 pretty quickly.

  • Can someone explain to me why anyone would buy a QD-OLED TV over a WOLED one?
imo the raised black levels (red tint) when there is high ambient light in the room is a deal breaker for me (i can see it right away when i go to a store). Defeats the point of having those perfect blacks. If QD-OLED's main strength is being a brighter panel…. which means it's better in a high ambient light in the room, where its biggest negative (red tint) is on full display…… I recently purchased an LG B465 for ~$2k It's blindingly bright imo. My only negative for the LG is most of the brightness is coming from the white subpixel, if I focus hard on the display I can almost tell the image starts to "wash out" a bit. (not sure if my head is playing tricks with me on that one)

    • Hey, the short of it is that QD-OLED has better colour range and is generally brighter but WOLED is better at handling reflections, something to consider if you watch in a bright room
