So the idea is that after the 1st month, we find another cheap sim to switch to? The Catch $99 12 month plan would be less disruptive. Less stressful to do this once a year than every 30 days.

Actually this is useful for overseas visitors that need a cheap Sim for a couple weeks.

It's primarily for stepping between free/profit sims many OzBargainers have amassed from cashback deals.

This is what I do, switch monthly to another cheap SIM. However recently it's been much harder to find SIMs <$7, and I am too considering the Catch deal.
I still have about 4 SIMs to get through though, and who knows how much the Catch SIM will cost, maybe I can hope there are some decent deals for 12 month SIMs around Black Friday.

Also available at Officeworks for $7.

I ordered the Voda 60GB 28-Day SIM for the same price ($7) after CB but this is handy if you need something straight away.

      Nice (re Officeworks).

I decided to pass on the vodafone deal as I don't need 60GB data didn't want to wait for Australia Post to maybe deliver it to me. Also I'm growing less confident with cashback companies, I've had Cashrewards reject two bonus cashback offers in a row now despite making qualifying spends.

Plus I can buy from WW with a discounted giftcard so my end price is less than $7.

      • You can add it to the title with a link in the description like I did on this old post.

    • thanks watchnerd - ported to lebara for the month to see how it goes with the 3g shutdowning of phones - all good so far

      • What was stock like at Officeworks?

        • 4 or five of the 7$ cards - lots of $2 cards - you can check stock online for your local store

          • @avtek: I got mine from Woolies, no Officeworks convenient to me, just curious.

Do they ID check? Dont want to hand over my ID to another telco after Optus flop.

Been a lack of cheap sims.

  • i need to park number give me unlimited calls and text next 3 months…seems ok for me really plus 15GB could be ok. I know catch connect cheap but the issue is they decline all of my cards and paypal..just cant get it.

  • already sold out at my wooly

  • What are the internet speeds like with Lebara? Same as Kogan or other Vodafone MVNOs, or did they manage to make it worse?

  • Hi all,

I just want to see if Lebara will work on my Xiaomi mobile that Boost doesn't support. I already have a spare mobile I can use for Boost if Lebara doesn't work. I figure $7 isn't much to spend to find out. The issue is I don't really intend to utilize the Lebara SIM beyond this check, as Id already purchased a 365 for Boost in June. I prefer my Xiaomi over my spare.

Question is, is the $7 SIM a plan, or can I just use it for the month and not renew? Then I know it'll work and can wait it out with the spare on Boost until that ends and move back to my Xiaomi & Voda next year.

It's just a starter sim valid for 30 days, you can let it run out without renewing.
