Just got the email this morning! Up to $179.99 a year now. Still cheaper than most others but it’s getting hard to justify at that price.
I think originally I signed up for $79.99 a year and it’s now more than doubled.
Might be time to go back to sailing the high seas!
I don't think it's greed in this case. Disney plus revenues can't even cover the cost of producing their content, they've been losing money on streaming for a long time. The price hikes allows them to essentially break even or make a small profit.
Netflix is a different story. Price hikes have turned it into a massive money making machine, around US$2bn per quarter in profit. That's what a subscriber base multiple times larger than all your streaming competitors allow. That to me is corporate greed.

I'm splitting with three other people, but if they are going to stop password sharing then I guess I should cancel really.
At least they're still only 55% of what Netflix want to charge.
Mainly keep Disney+ for my kids. Have dropped the rest.

The system auto generated my sub from $139.99 to a Premium renewal same as you $179.99
Where the Standard sub is only $139.99
If you have access to APOD ie are a Veteran, my renewal is discounted by 25% so at $104.99 it is quite good value again.
so it was going to upgrade you from standard ($139) to premium ($179) automatically if you didn’t check and find out beforehand?
Not quite, it was already Premium, but at a much lower price when I joined. I just worded that part erroneously, sorry.

Stan in their defence was one of the slowest to increase their prices, but on cheapest tier they went from $10 to $12 a month beginning of this year I think.
and recently heard it’s going to be $17 soon. they are staying 100% ad free on cheapest tier though.
but $10 to $17 is a big leap.
It’s definitely getting out of hand now. Its seems like we create something good then corporate greed take over then we go back to where it started back to which in this case could be going back to cable/satellite service.
