What is the PlayStation Camera adaptor and what does it do?

The PlayStation Camera adaptor is used to connect the PlayStation®Camera* (sold for the PlayStation®4 console) to a PlayStation®5 console. This allows the use of PlayStation®VR when playing supported PS4™ games on a PS5™ console, including games that require PlayStation®Move or PlayStation®VR aim controllers.

*Model CUH-ZEY1 or CUH-ZEY2

Please note: The new HD camera for PS5 is not compatible with PS VR. You will need to use the PS Camera (for PS4) with a PlayStation Camera adaptor (no purchase required) to use PS VR on PS5.

As of November 26th 2024, or until supplies last, the PlayStation Camera adaptor will no longer be available.

    I signed up for this in mid-2023 when I purchased a PS VR. Said there was a delay, after months of waiting I just bought one off Amazon. The one from Sony still hasn’t arrived.

    Does this really qualify for a deal? These were always free for all PSVR owners. And if people haven't vlaimed theirs yet, they have been loving under a rock in the gaming world.

    Its almost like saying GET A FREE PS5 SATND WITH EVERY PS5 PURCHASE…… Sure, they are ending it soon but sorry, Sony advertised this before the PS5 launch. Might as well wait for a PS6 adaptor to get announced now ……Having said that, I've been waiting several months for my adaptor since I traded in my PS4 for a PS5, still no adaptor.

    I received mine but this was back in early 2021 so it was real redemption at one stage. They sent it from Germany from memory. Shame they don’t seem to honour it anymore :/

    I got mine when the offer began years ago. Most PSVR1 I see on FB Marketplace seem to have them.

    Based on comments, this is:

    a) not a bargain and by knowing Sony, nothing is really free coming from them
    b) a scam since only 2 of 7 replies did receive it

      You're making me feel like I need to chime in and say that, yep, I claimed this and received it too.

      I'm sure some people had trouble but I would wager that the vast majority got it but aren't clicking here because there's nothing really to say when all goes well. I'm only clicking here because I wondered why the downvotes.

      Also, this is an legitimate "free item" of value. Googling just now, it's something that people are selling and asking money for. Someone else in the comments even says they actually bought it.

    I received mine from the previous post. My request was sent the day of that post (29 Oct 2020) and it sounds like I received it within 6-12 business days after 13 Nov 2020 (I have a vague recollection that it arrived without incident or a long wait).

    I guess I got in early because I then received an official Sony PlayStation email on 8 Dec 2020 that "registrations are now open". I put in another order through the official link to see what would happen… and they sent another one! I tried clicking that link again just now but unfortunately it has expired or else I would have posted the link here for everyone.

    i got mine as soon as i got my ps5. Came from Sony for free.
