I've used these on 4 longhaul flights now and can vouch for them…your own noise cancelling earbuds/headhpones wirelessly connected to the "Entertainment" screen on your flight…amazing. Price seems to go up and down every few months and this is as low as it usually gets.

  • How do these compare to the Airfly / Airfly pro?

    • +1

This one work fine. It can pair with 2 Bluetooth headphones. The battery life is not great but it's acceptable. Sound quality is good, quick connectivity. I got it for a few bucks less. Highly recommended if you can get for low $20.

    • +1

      Ugreen says this:

      Is it compatible with AirPods?
Yes, it is compatible with AirPods, but INCOMPATIBLE with AirPods Pro 2.

might be worth knowing since I think Airfly is designed to work well with Apple products. (they sell it at the Apple Store)

      • +2

Can confirm its works with AirPods Pro 2
I just used in a 9 hours flight last month (with AirPods Pro 2 Lightning version)

        • +1

I can also confirm it worked with mine too, (AirPods Pro 2 USB C versions)

  • +2

It's mainly for earbuds, most overhead headphones have cable connectivity which is less power consumption

    • -5

Cable connection doesn't give you ANC, though.

      • +2

        Pretty some Sony's do

      • +1

        Bose do

        • I have found my Bose's ANC turns off after a while, 45's. Is that the case with yours as well?

          • +2

@abs898: I have the QC35s and the ANC stays on as long as the battery lasts, when wired.

          • +1

@abs898: Its configurable in the app btw

          • @abs898: Its configurable in the app btw

            • @meong: Which option is that?

Looking to configure the ANC issue when plugged via cable

              • @abs898: I don't have Bose headphones anymore.

But basically it's the same configuration as the automatic turn off/battery saving option.

If you set it as indefinite, it will always be powered on and ANC will be always available

      • My XM4s do

      • Sony XM5's definitely do. I wouldn't have slept through 10+ international flights this year without them

    • +2

Cable connections are infuriating when the tray comes out for meal service or you’re in cattle class and you need to unplug for someone to pass by.

      • So true!

  • +2

I bought this one back in 2022 and this one comes with BT 5.3 with Aptx low support. It was pricier back then (paid $58) now lesser. Quite reliable. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0B84NDTZB

    • Not sure what exactly the difference but this one is bit cheaper,
      https://amzn.asia/d/cqFP5X8

      • This one is previous version to the one linked to by @cloudie9. Originally had the one you linked, but one of the channels failed after a few months. Bought the new one, before realising the new one had a male 3.5mm which wasn’t ideal for my use case as a headphone RX from my phone. Bought another of the old version, but it too failed the same way… Maybe I’m just unlucky?

  • Anyone tried this with PlayStation portal? Any lags?

    • +1

To achieve minimal lags you'll need both transceiver and headset to support some kind of low-latency protocol (such as aptX LL). However top best-selling BT headsets (incl AirPods and Max, Sony MX4, Bose) usually don't come with these protocols.

However the latency really depends on how sensitive you are and what kind of game you're playing. For the latter, many latency-sensitive games can adjust input lag anyway (especially music games).

  • I recommend getting one with a detachable cable, I had one of these and the plane plug was in the side of the seat (cathay premium) and I bent it while sleeping. My new one has a detachable cable so I use a right angle connected plug now.

    1 Star Review
Was surely faulty, as the sound only comes through one channel (the left) and nothing on the right. Disappointed

    • +6

Are you ignoring the 567 5 Star Reviews ?

    • You did plug in the line splitter before the bluetooth?

    • +2

I have to use the Flight audio adapter before connecting the transmitter
      eg. https://www.amazon.com.au/Tersely-Airplane-Headphone-Connect…

this transmitter does support both channels but you need to make sure the 3.5mm jack source is supplying stereo audio too
I have the same issue when taking Cathay Pacific flight and the Flight audio adapter fixed the single channel issue

  • +1

    Does it have airplane mode?

  • UGreen 65W Gan charger also on sale, are these any good?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Charger-Nexode-Compact-MacB…

  • Do you need an airplane two prong adapter to use this, appears to only have 1 x 3.5m

    • Yea.

  • Do you need an airplane two prong adapter to use this, appears to only have 1 x 3.5mm jack?

    • Yep, correct.

  • Easy to connect to two pairs of headphones?

  • I have this paired with Bose ll quiet 35 and it worked great on Qantas and Qatar. For those asking I bought some two pronged adapters but they weren’t needed when I used them. My wife had Sennheiser and daughter Apple Airpods and both worked fine without the adapter. It could depend on the airplane though, I am unsure.

  • how much audio delay with this setup?

  • Anyone used this in a car? I’m wondering how it will go always being on charge. I’d like to get one for Bluetooth to Aux input instead of my current Bluetooth to FM radio.

    • This is the wrong direction, you want a Bluetooth to 3.5mm DAC.
      something like this:
      https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007827626208.html

      • But doesn’t the item in OP do receive as well? It even has an infographic with a car and phone on it.

        • yes, this support both transmitter and receiver mode
once you turn into receiver mode, you get connect to mobile phone via BT
then use the 3.5mm jack to plug into car audio input
