  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards and/or use of gift cards for payment.

  • Is that on top of any incentive offered by the funds?

    • +1

depends what is being shown in Compare The Market website
I found that the bonus offers shown in compare website is less than applying directly from the insurance provider
but will need to do the maths whether its more beneficials after $260 cashback

eg. When I apply directly in ahm website, I get 6 weeks free (with another 2 weeks free after 12 months).
While applying via compare website I only get 4 weeks free
However, factoring the $260 cashback it will still be better off if the policy I am applying is in the low tier (eg. bronze hospital + extra)

      • Got it thanks

IMHO, 60 days is too long to hold the policy to be eligible for the cashback. You would very likely save more by churning to a new fund by that time. YMMV

    • I think most health insurances benefits will only honour at least 30 days given it must pass cooling off period
and most x weeks free promo has a condition to keep the policy for at least 60 - 90days?

      • Usually pay 1 month then get 6 weeks free.

There are some requiring 60 days, but I never churn to those.

        • If you find the time - could you explain to me how you churn health insurance and what it looks like? I’d love to learn it to do it myself

@campez: Pretty much all of my posts on here about health insurance churning. Have a read!

This might be a good start for you: https://www.ombudsman.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/294…

            • @YesPleaseThankYou: So you churn 5 times a year or something? Just cycling through the same insurers? That's dedication! But youd save 60% or something.

Have any of them had issues with you rejoining again after the year? The main headache would be finding different claims processes with each insurer

                @booboo:

So you churn 5 times a year or something?

                Yes

Just cycling through the same insurers?

No, whichever has the best deal at the time (shortest minimum holding time with greatest discount).

That's dedication! But youd save 60% or something.

Health insurance is a significant expense, so it's worth it, and simple to do.

Have any of them had issues with you rejoining again after the year?

No. By taking up the various promotional offers, I am doing precisely what the funds want. Why would they have an issue with that?

They don't advertise in the hope that no-one signs up.

The main headache would be finding different claims processes with each insurer

Why? You swipe the card at the provider, or you claim via the app. The processes are the same.

I never join via intermediaries such as that discussed in this thread - it adds another layer of complexity for little to no gain.

Also, you can immediately exclude NIB and related brands, as the minimum hold time is always too long.

        • Beware of qualifying periods for claims. New insurer gets transfer documents from previous insurer only so if claim period requires 12 months you will experience drama. Not an issue if not claiming.

          • @Dick10: Keep a copy of all your transfer certificates and provide them as required. The insurer can also get them from your previous funds.

            I've never had any drama.

            • @YesPleaseThankYou: so, even if every next insurer resets waiting time, say 12 months for Major Dental, I still can claim it 12 month after the 1st insurer by showing previous certificates? I asked Medibank because they didnt include wait time from the previous insurers but received some vague reply… looks like might be another complaint to the Ombudsman..

  • Seems like the best option is see-u by hbf - pay 4 weeks get 4 weeks free

    • yes, initially I applied to ahm, but cancelled ahm and apply to see-u after finding this

    • Hi, where did you see 4 weeks free for hbf?
I didn't see that when I was reviewing the policy details.

      • Just go here for 6 weeks free upfront (100% discount) for 6 weeks then churn again: https://www.territoryhealth.com.au/campaigns/2024/8weeks/

        • Yeah, I was interested but my wife wasn't due to the "effort and time spent" so no go …

          • @ozproud: 6 weeks of free health insurance for a 5-minute sign-up sounds like a good deal to me.

Maybe your wife has too much money on her hands?

        • Looks like a decent deal 6 weeks free upfront, is the extras no wait?

  • I am currently with see-u by hbf, just wondering if I switch to another policy by see-u via CTM, would it decline the cashback?

  • Seems like mine didn't track for this - very annoying. Will have to see if TCB will successfully claim it once the 7 days elapse
