Entry level gaming machine, we are giving them away! Must be the cheapest RTX 3050 on the market (card is $288 itself!).

New to the gaming scene, this is a great starting machine, definitely not a hardcore gamer's pick. Great Christmas present for a younger one, the HP Victus Gaming case is a nice rig.

Quick Specifications -

RAM - 16GB
SSD - 512 GB
Graphics - RTX 3050

FYI - Nebula PC has set the bar around this price point: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/864047

Never a fan of sites that show a super inflated 'was' price… Isn't it Aus consumer law to only show that price if a product was sold in x amount of days prior?

Highly doubt any consumer has bought a PC that over inflated in price in a very long time.

Thanks for the feedback. We now show RRP & then maintain a discounted sale price - the issue of showing a “market sell price” instead of an RRP is people miss the % of discount that has been applied.

When the HP store says 40% & our online clicks via Google show 10% of the reduced price, we find people are missing how good the deal is.

      Comment is noted though!

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/pricing/price-displays

Doesn't look like RRP is appropriate if you are misleading people to think that's anywhere near a reasonable price people pay

        • +2

You should probably take that up with HP themselves who do the exact same. The smaller shops are merely following suit.

@cook99: Agreed, most vendors do it, although HP's deals aren't advertised on Ozb? This is a forum allowing mass viewers, standards should be applied

            • +1

@misunderstood98: They are posted in Ozbargain, eBay direct HP deal with 4060 posted recently and had the stupid misleading RRP on the Ozbargain deals as well as the eBay listing. I'd say if HP are allowed to post like that with 55% off, the reseller vendors should be able to as well, as crappy as it is

              • +1

@cook99: That was posted by a user, not by HP themselves.

Plus it was actually a deal…

We don’t set the RRP & simply use it as a measuring stick to drive campaigns from. We are comfortable with our price setting & note the unit has never been for sale without a sale or discounted price - the intention is not to inflate the discount, simply align to the market expectation.

            @Hub by Triforce: From ACCC:

"Ways that a displayed price can be misleading
Stating the sale price is marked down from an earlier price when:

Comparing the displayed price to a recommended retail price (RRP) that no-one generally charges for the product."

HP were selling Victus 15L with 5700g and 4060 for the same price recently..

That seemed to be a very limited availability eBay deal that sold out within an hour? I thought the same thing, sadly it's still out of stock on that link.

      • yeah it was one of those "buy first think later" kind of deals. I got one..

        • We'll done, I thought about it but really didn't need one, half regret hesitation now

@cook99: I was on the market - tentatively lol - to replace my aging i9-9980hk / 3070 rig

it was still fine for gaming but I am mostly playing on my Xbox, and was wondering about refitting the PC for photo storage and processing

so when I saw that Victus deal, and learned that it holds 2x 3.5 SATA drives I grabbed one. setting up 2 identical 6tb to act as a mirror RAID now..

and sold on my previous rig for the same kind of money so was 1 to 1 replacement lol

It’s crazy season! Will watch the feedback & review accordingly. Our sales are funded by scan backs & promotions directly from the vendor. We do our best to deliver deals, some you may find value in, whilst others are not for you - we get it!

Not a great deal, you can regularly cop a prebuilt with a 4060 at that price these days

Not in a 15L case though

Boy if you buy a RTX3050 to game in 2024 I've got bad news for you…

  • +2

$499 with delivery included is the max I’d pay for this. This price may as well go for nebula.

"card is $288 itself!" - rofl. There's no way this card should be more than $200.

  • +1

Incorrect info in the post, you stated "you are giving them away", yet when I clicked on the link to get my free PC, you want to charge me, please fix the price so I can get my free PC you are giving away.
    Thanks

I too would appreciate the price update on my giveaway machine

  • Definitely would go the 4060 machines over this

  • Make it 700 and we have a deal.

    • +2

Sure we will just remove the card -$288 lol

      • I like this thought!

  • 4 USB 2.0 on the front is a turn off.
