Nice. Will cancel my holiday to Greece

  • This or zempire Aerospeed?

  • What's the advantage over a traditional poled tent?

      Wind powered

Easier to setup and much stronger in the wind - think of how an inflatable tender feels much more solid than you’d expect (compared to an inflatable pool toy). Provides a lot of support, in high winds the pole may bend inwards but the air pressure will make it bounce back into place, where a traditional aluminium/steel pole could potentially snap.

I have an earlier version of these Dometic tents (stradbroke) and they’re fantastic quality. Definitely an underrated brand when it comes to air tents. In my opinion, these polycotton tents are far better quality/value than the similarly priced Zempire “plastic” tents.

      • Was looking to zempire aerospeed but now santorini looks like better tent although heavier. Will this be any good for winter?

Purchased this a few months back. Very simple to set up, don't have to pump for long, plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids, with stretcher beds. Handy space out the front to stay out of any weather.

I had a Coleman 10p instant up tent before this, and it's the smaller details that makes this much easier to live with. Things like window zips inside, water doesn't pool on the awning, great ventilation and being a canvas material, felt much cooler than the polyester.

If you are looking for a family tent that gets used a few times a year and you plan of camping for the next few years, it's a good investment. Make sure you buy screw in pegs, it was a game changer for me.

    • Gorgeous looking tent.

    • Is it suitable for winter? or will the polyester ones fill warmer?

  • I am waiting for last year's deal instant tent for 6 people for under $20

We have the older Stradbroke version and those tents are truly fantastic.

Very easy to setup and breakdown, perfecty comfortable for a small family and no issues with broken poles or instability.

We had an issue with the carry bag (zipper broke after first trip) and Dometic offered a replacement bag straight away.

Those tents are heavy though and do take up a lot of room transporting - the only downside I could think of.

Would highly recommend at that price!

  • Looks like this is a 3 season tent. Meaning not recommended for winter use. Thoughts any one?

  • How durable are air tents? Are they rugged enough for free camping in the bush?

They look fantastic, but I’m concerned about what happens if a leak occurs midway through a trip. Does anyone have long-term experience using them?

    • Don't have experience but am looking at getting an inflatable.

Had a geeze at some in store and decided to strip the covers off the inflatable pillars to see what it's like. It's basically a clear thick pvc plastic, I'd imagine some gorilla seal tape would patch those out easily if you get a hole. Would definitely be more repairable while deployed vs poles on a standard tent.

I guess you also have to ask the store/manufacturer to see how available replacement tube are in case one needs replacing

  • I have almost pulled the trigger on this tent a few times but one thing that always holds me back is that there is no divider between the front half and the back half of the tent. I'd want to have the front "living part" (not the annex) of the tent open during the day for easy access to stuff but have the back "sleeping part" of the tent shut up so as not to let bugs in all day long.

I see that there is an inner tent accessory which sort of solves the issue by creating that divider but then it introduces another issue by removing all ventilation to the sleeping part as it is fully enclosed on the back and sides.

Anyone have any thoughts, opinions or advice on the above?
