according to repairman, very common that the thermostat stuffs up in 3 years in them if you use steam feature. i stopped using stream feature and extra dry and its been running fine since

Thanks for the tip! Will have to keep that in mind.

I use that extra dry all the time. Better stop… Thanks fella.

$1136 for the stainless steel colour if you have the good guys commercial

Playing the LG Lotto? No thanks. Haven't looked into this particular model but expect you will find mixed reviews on how good it is, then you also run the risk of short life or maintenance which reviews aren't going to tell you.

If only Bosch would stop being a dolt and implement an extra feature or two. Like auto open, or reverse tumble on their heat pump dryers

Ya. I was eyeing on the Bosch series 6 but that doesn’t have the auto door. The next step up - Series 8 has it but it’s significantly expensive.

Have done a bit of a research on LG and decided to give this a try. I am coming from a Bosch.. so it’ll be interesting to see how the overall experience is with the LG dishwasher.

      • Have series8 and it's no good.

Had to get our heater replaced after 3 years, apparently this is another common fault. Otherwise, great dishwasher. Don’t waste your time with the woeful Wi-Fi app!

Did they fix under warranty or consumer law?

      • No, used LG authorized repair company, they said they had tried before for the same problem!

How much did it cost to repair?

      • I think the part was $130 and the call out $100.

I have the matte black version of this (matching w my fridge and microwave)
Been great so far and auto door open is handy. Can’t say I notice much difference using the ‘Steam’ option - Seems a bit gimmicky to me but then again my dishes aren’t particularly filthy when they go in

    • That’s great to hear! Can you share any info on how good the drying option is?

      • +1

Yep generally really good, the only exception (as with all dishwashers) is if something on the top shelf forms a little pool of water on an indented surface and just sits there unable to drain. Cutlery drawer is great too and IMO far better than those baskets, stuff cleans and dries better and it frees up space on the bottom rack. Only compromise is the upper rack has slightly less height clearance

  • Had this one about 4 years ago (mine was Model XD4B24PS) and it faulted 4 times in 2 years, was so bad I actually got Good Guys to honour their No Lemon Policy and traded up to a Bosch Series 6, zero issues

    • :(

I would go Bosch without any hesitation.

Giving the LG a try this time.

  • Another design issue is no front display so you have no idea how long before the cycle finishes unless you open the door whilst going. What genius thought putting the display on the top area of the door was a good idea?

    • +1

Yeah that one definitely annoys me, you can peek through the gap in the door to see the time without opening it but it’s not ideal, or if you’ve connected it to your LG App you can view it that way (again, not ideal)

    • Doesn’t it have a small light in the front that incidates ‘cycle on or off’. I am just going by the pictures and may be wrong.

      • +1

Sure does! There's a subtle white circular light on the front panel that indicates the dishwasher is in operation. petersx was referring more to the fact that you don't know exactly how long until the cycle finishes at a glance.
