God, what I wouldn't give for the Tony Hawk N64 trilogy to land on here. Banjo is cool, but if you're buddy buddy with MS, give my boy Tony Hawk some love for the 25th anniversary.

They already remade these games though?

      • +3

1 and 2, yes (three goddamn times), but 3? Nope.

But I also enjoy playing the shitty versions of games, and everyone knows THPS N64 is something you only play if you have no other option.

THPS2 on PS1 is my go to "dunno what to play" game on my retro emulator

@theguyrules: The full game in your hands, on the go is a 90s dream. Runs being just 2 minutes, it's like it was made for handheld play where you could play for a little or a lot. Re-discovering the soundtrack, remembering how cool real skate FMV unlockables were. Good times.

            • @formulated: The Switch is the only official way to do that, but the remake's load times on Switch are so off putting, I never play it there.

Rather emulate the OGs on any of the bevy of handhelds I have tbh.

            @theguyrules: Ditto.

Recently hooked up an Echo Show 15.
            Recently 100%d THPS2 again.

    This is awesome.

    DIDDY.
    KONG.
    RACING.

    • I want the classic version in NSO, and a HD remake of the original. I guess no motivation from Nintendo to do it, Mario Kart already has the kart genre covered.

    • Thanks now I have the title theme stuck in my head.

    • +1

Just wait for the HD remaster.. That'll be $64 plus NSO sub to play online.

Replayed it after 20 years by getting the DS/3DS version off Marketplace.

Fine, what I remembered. Just underwhelming - controls are outdated in that unintuitive way you expect now, races and progression aren't as fun as I remembered. One that can stay in my nostalgia memory bank.

    Yes !

I never got to play this when i was younger and cart prices are crazy on used market on the N64

    • +2

They've waited over 20 years, I'm sure they can wait another 8 days

Subs for n64 games is BS. Just let me pay once and play it.

    • +3

Agree, i dont purchase it for this reason. Garbage.

Buy an N64 and the cartridge

      • Or a superior and cheaper alternative.

    • -1

Just buy the physical games then.

  • +1

    The better Banjo

    • +5

This is easily the second best Banjo game on the N64, if you exclude DKR.

  • +6

Will this work better with with the 4MB RAM Expansion?

    • +1

Switch already has 4,000MB of RAM, so probably not.

    • +1

If you're serious, then no, the original N64 version doesn't play any differently with the expansion pak.

  • +4

    PLEASE give me DK64!

  • Lovely little addition ;)

  • Microsoft owns this franchise. So it’s good they are offering this.

  • +1

I'll play in my Everdrive and avoid paying Nintendo money for rental games.
