Need that 75 to drop to the $1500 range.

    • +2

Based on price history of last year's 75" C845, it probably won't drop to $1500 until March next year.
But should be in the $1700 range in the next 2 months which is what I'm waiting for

  • +2

Whats everyones opinion would you pay the extra $550 for the 75 Inch 855 or just go with the 75 Inch C755

    • +1

      Also keen to know

    • +2

From what I understand C855 has more dimming zones than the 755 which makes it "closer" to OLED blacks
And the anti glare is better on the 8 series

C955 crazier amount of dimming zones but we don't get that series in this region.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I wont be getting one as JB wont match costco dammit

        • Is it better to get it from JB? GCs?

        • Just went to JB Coomera, I can confirm they do match Costco price at $2149 delivered.

          • @Dan4113: Oh wow, can you send me the receipt please. Might help me get them to match, cause I couldnt get them to agree

            • @Thunder-Wombat: I haven’t purchased it yet. Waiting for a mate sending $2k JB gift card then I can go to pay for it.
Spoke to a sales person, he said he can do the price for $2149 inc delivery tomorrow after he asked the manager.

      • Get 855. My question is should I replace my LG OLED with this 855. LG is a bit small now, only 55'

      • An OLED has 8,294,400 dimming zones, as each pixel is self-emissive.

The TCL C955 is equipped with 2304 local dimming zones… hardly "close".

        • +1

I think he just said 'closer' which is true 😉

Reading the owners thread on AVForums.

Current gen OLED wins in a dark room, just. Image has slightly more depth.

C855 wins in lit rooms as C855 anti glare coating is significantly better.

X955 has all the dimming zones. C955 and X955's where last year's model (even though they are named xx5x). C855 has a processor bump over the C955. They believe the C855 screen is a completely new model, with even the LCD replaced. Initial thoughts was the LCD matrix was carried over from last year's C845.

        Complaints mentioned:
Initial buyers returned screen due to visible vertical lines when feeding screen a solid grey image. Newer buyers could replicate, but didn't care.

Screen was not achieving max sustained brightness in game mode. Screen still significantly brighter than competition in price range. Forum users where not stating if they had EU models, which have restricted brightness for energy use restrictions.

A tiny amount of very dark detail is lost compared to the best TVs.

Upscaling is not has good as some other mid range or high end TVs (buy a shield if you care).

One mentioned an issue with the back light pulsing in two small areas of the TV.

Earlier firmwares had issues holding DV settings between inbuilt apps (fixed).

Only passes 2.0 audio to older ARC hardware. No issues noted with eARC.

One person had an issue connecting their PS5. Other HDMI devices did not have this issue on that tv.

None of these issues are red flags to me, as these users have critical eyes, or issue was a single TV.

    • Go for the 855 and have no regrets. The screen can get super bright if you want it to, and the dimming zones makes no/minimal blooming - "To me" its in par with an OLED but brighter and no burn-in headache to worry about. Not sure but the 855 has a built in sub-woofer that 755 does not have? and its an onkyo. They wont replace your surround sound cinema speakers, but about par compared to an external sound bar.

      • How is it for motion, sport and upscaling?

        • +1

Had a Hisense U8N before, compared to it this is faaar superior in handling motion. Games are much smoother. Up scaling is managed well, but not a true 4k experience from a low quality content. This is compared to mid range tvs chips - not comparing to Bravia or LG chips

        • I have the 65C855. As far as motion/sports is concerned it's as good as my Samsung QN90A (which is fantastic). The Kayo app is brilliant and just as good as the Shield TV device. The only downside is the remote which doesn't have fwd/rew buttons (which you will need for instant skip as the app supports them). I use a logitech 650 remote and installed the c855 tv button inputs. Works well.
I have a fair collection of 720p tv shows and they look just fine using Plex and Kodi.
          :)

          • @starionx: Thats good to know, i mostly use shield and kayo. Do you have the shield pro with the 4k upscaling? Or the old 2017 model.

I was set on Bravia 7, but this at $2k is tempting. Our old $400 TCL has lasted a good 5 years

            • @bigbaddbaz: Shield Pro.
I will say, the TCL Kayo app does take about 10-15 secs for it to first start up a video, but after that there is no pausing when time skipping.

          • @starionx: You can fwd/rewing in the kayo app, just tap okay, scroll up one notch to the timeline, and go wild.

            • @Ademos: As I said, instead skip. The TCL remote way is slow and tedious. ;)

        • Incredible. I got it for F1 and AFl, it's fantastic. Sony will still be a cut above, but the gap is nowhere near what it used to be, specifically as of this model (going by the reviews).

      • +2

The 755 also has the Onkyo sub on the back.

      • +1

but about par compared to an external sound bar.

Not even remotely true. Speaking as a guy with The C855 and a Q990D setup.

        • Yep my thoughts exactly. Prob match a $100 soundbar… Not even close to a decent $300 one though, let alone higher end.

        • Did you mount the tv or place it on a tv unit, I’m planning to get the 85 inch but not sure if my Q990c will hide the IR sensor etc

      • The 755 has an Onkyo sub woofer but im not sure if it the same specs or not, it sounds pretty decent though

    • The C855 is vastly superior.

  • Don't have Costco membership, looking at the 85". Do you think these will be specialed again round black Friday at other places?

    • +1

i have seen TVs go lower on price with JB and TGG compared to Costco.. so i believe these will go lower. Specially the 85, as it has been lower before.

  • They'll all be at least $200 cheaper in a month

    • Remind me in one month….

    • You mean black friday? Or what?

  • Does a Costco membership cost money?

    Will JB price match?

    • Does a Costco membership cost money?

      $65

  • I have a 75" Hisense U8K that I got around June for ~$2k.

Love the picture quality and brightness is great in my very bright living room.

BUT I've been having endless issue with the HDMI ARC to the soundbar alongside my Google TV Streamer (was using Google TV for Chromecast before and had issues less often). This is driving me INSANE and no matter what arrangement I put it in (each device to the TV separately or Google to the soundbar to the TV) it eventually disconnects ARC and goes to TV speakers. Only way to solve it for a very short time is power cycle everything. This is an issue I've seen on many forums, and no one has a solid solution.

Should I return this Hisense on warranty and order this TCL 75" C855 now???

I'll be overseas for Black Friday unfortunately.

    • +1

      Yes you should haha

You can order online on black Friday:)

      • Yeh ok I will try that but first need to convince Hisense to take it back for a full refund…

    • +2

I did exactly that, had the U8N for 2 years, filed a claim for the blur, static noise and issues with Dolby vision content. C855 price came down in Appliance central, asked TGG to price match then utilised the claim upgrading in both tv quality and Size.

  • Anyone know o if Harvey Norman price match with Costco?

    • I tried JB, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee and they all said no.

      • Tried local HN and they did.

        • Could you post a receipt? I tried different stores too and they all said no.

  • +1

I paid $1739 for the 65" C855 at Appliances Online last month. Great TV, especially for the price. Really impressed with the brightness and the blacks.

  • +1

Anyone think this will go lower for black Friday or buy now? Was waiting on a good sale for tcl c755 but seeming the comments above this one might be better?

  • Just be mindful, I just tried and Costco doesn't deliver this to regional Victoria.

  • Do these tvs pump out alot of heat at home? Sure seem to run hot instore. Not the best energy rating

  • the 855 is now out of stock.

  • Just bought the 85 c855 from Harvey Norman for $2900 including delivery, gave the guy the link to Costco and he beat the price. This was before it was out of stock at Costco which I see has been updated now. It wasn't at the time and he was happy to give me a better price.
