There's no such thing as too many torches, or at least that's the case in my house. So here's a tactical torch from Wuben that's well reviewed at 1lumen and manages to achieve the claimed brightness of 2000 lumens.

Features include an SST40 6500K LED bulb with 2000lm brightness, tactical/outdoor light modes with memory function & tail switch, removeable 2100mAh 18650 battery, USB-C charging and IP68 waterpoof rating.

As with a lot of these torches I recommend swapping out the battery for something more high quality than the generic 18650 battery. If you want to get 18650 batteries on a budget and don't mind a long wait (via sea) I recommend the LiitoKala 3500mAh batteries.

These are good flash light but what is “TACTICAL”.

What do these people think tactical mean? I get clearly it’s aimed at people who think they could be in the seal team 6 but it’s so cringe lol.

The word tactical brings out the crazies of OzBargain. As I learned in the last deal from the guy that was desperate to know what school I went to (seriously lol).

I've removed it from the title :)

I think you can put it back there is a reason this one is Tactical it’s the end button.

brings out the crazies of OzBargain.

were they a navy seal with 50 confirmed kills?? 😂

Nah, he's a basement dweller with 5000+ Bluray's and separate component AV systems in every room, so he's a walking cliche. But he watches SEAL Team so he knows it's not "tactical" 🤦🏻‍♂️

I remember that one! That was a little unhinged.

        • +1

Unhinged is putting it mildly. Thankfully he's in the sin bin for awhile so he's probably reading this and can't respond. Which for someone who has to have the final word on everything, it must be killing him lol

      • So… what school did you go to? Seal Team 6 will raid it to discover your academic records.

I did a bunch of research on torches a month ago and learned a few things.

tactical in this case means there is a button to turn it on at the end you can press with your thumb. so you hold it upside down and point it where you want to light up and turn it on that way.

function is usually the same as the normal upper button but thumb button can sometimes (if it has modes) function as “temporary on” so you can set it to “hold for on” and as soon as you release it the light turns off. also seems like you get a lower brightness of 5lm with the tactical button.

also that jagged area around the lens is called a strike bezel it’s if you need to use it for self defense or whatever. I mean as if hitting a person with solid metal isn’t enough apparently the strike bezel is more likely to hurt.

      • tactical in this case means there is a button to turn it on at the end you can press with your thumb.

Generally tactical refers to that and the ring you see near the rear, used with a pistol grip. A la : https://cdn-fastly.thefirearmblog.com/media/2024/05/15/14077…

Then the crenulated bezel (for striking or glass breaking) and "instant full turbo" button press.

What it is not, ever, is for TaCtICAlLy BliNdInG someone. Who will just shoot at the bright spot. Or close their eyes while they bash you.

Real tactical operators aren't buying something that hasn't been made for recoil shock, with potted electronics and heavy duty battery springs.

Don't stress too much about it, usually just means the torch is durable, has extra modes and can be mounted on a firearm!

    • +1

Tactical also means gimmicky. I'd avoid this deal just cos the LED is quite outdated.

also max lm spec is hype really. it’s common everyone does it including decent brands like sofirn and wuben. at least they are not claiming 100000 lumen like some random ones on Amazon.
but it really is a 700lm torch just the LED has a 2000lm mode which overheats and drops to 700lm after 1 min.

also 700lm is only 1.5 hour run time.

    • It’s aimed at the same type of people that buy a pen with a glass breaker on the opposite end because it’s marketed as a tactical pen.

So here's a tactical torch from Wuben

    tac….tical ?

    Wu-Ben Clan coming at ya!

    Again?

    Awww yeah…again and again

I just bought this for $31.
Surely it is a better deal (Bang for buck)
2000 lumens. What am I missing

Limited-time deal: Sofirn SC31 Pro Torch Rechargeable Flashlight 2000 Lumen, Pocket Light with Powerful LED, Anduril2 UI EDC Flash Light for Camping Hiking Fishing Dog Walking etc https://amzn.asia/d/d8gBcbG

It's important to check reviews as the maximum lumens they advertise might not be entirely true. Looking at the SC31T Pro which is nearly identical and using the same SST40 LED you'll see that the max lumens output is underwhelming.

It's spec'd at 2210lm on turbo, then when it's turned on it's at 1581lm, then down to 886lm after 30 seconds and finally 272lm after 10 minutes.

While the Wuben in the 1lumen review linked in OP sits at 2178lm when turned on, then goes to 2098lm after 30 seconds and finally down to 710lm after 10 minutes.

Yeah it is better bang for buck but still not great imo.

For a general purpose light, I've been using the Wurkkos TS22 with XHP70.3 LED which is good for 600 lumens for 3hrs. Another option is the FC11C which does 500 lumens for 2hrs.
