              • @just-human: Seriously? Last time I tried with email that have + cannot go through the process, I think.

                • @neoleo: Yeah, I tried it and it didn't have issues. Maybe it was just a system error for you at the time?

                  • @just-human: I don't know. Everytime I use different email for this anyway.

  • Price displayed for 2 year max plan was $109.95.

Presumed this was AUD and only realised otherwise when I was charged $164.23 (CBA). Wish I’d thought about it as I’ve got a different fee-free card for overseas spends.

Learn from my mistake and use a card with no overseas transaction fees if signing up, can’t have the banks swallowing that tasty profit!

    • The rest of the peeps above also got charged AUD$164ish… do u think your fee free card can give better result..?

      • I used my ING and got charged $171.

        • According to xe.com USD109.99 is AUD 164.49 as of rn… those AU$164 figures are pretty much fee free and at the best rate…

        • @CrypticM I thought ING doesn't charge international transaction fees. Did you pay via PayPal? I was charged extra with PayPal conversion fees when I added a fee free card to PayPal before.

          • @trixieb: Yes…it's PayPal. Realised very late.

          • +1

@trixieb: In PayPal, you need to change it at the payment screen so that it charges you in the merchant currency and let your bank do the conversion, rather than PayPal. PayPal's rates are way short of the real exchange rate.

@hamza23: With PureVPN, the option wasn't available to change currency. Was able to change to US$ with AliExpress at the payment screen. Perhaps it depends on the merchant. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15634347/redir

              • @trixieb: Ah right, that's pretty crappy. I remember paying with credit card last time I did this, but that was because Paypal wouldn't even show most of my credit cards at checkout.

Edit: Just had a look now and that's still the case, none of the credit cards appear as options under PayPal. Perhaps they only accept debit cards.

    • @MultiGrain PureVPN prices are in US$. When you use the currency converter online (without card fees), US$109.95 is AUS164.44 now. Your CBA card appears to have no international fees otherwise it would have been more.

Thanks all, agree the AUD converted amount is about right.
However I used a CBA debit Mastercard, so also expecting a separate CBA overseas trans fee to appear soon once purchase moves from pending to settled.
Predicting fee of $5.74 give or take (3.5% x 164.23) which will eat into cashback. Live and learn in my case.

    • I was charged 169.13 on my ANZ card!

  • Do they automatically charge you when the subscription is over? Or we dont need to anything just let it expire?

  • Tried paying through Paypal using an Up Digital Card, got Charged $172.07 on it for some reason. Shouldn't it have been ~$164 as others have advised as UP don't charge a foreign transaction fee? Only had $170 on that account, so the payment re-routed automatically to main CC saved in Paypal which has a Foreign transaction fee. FML!

  • Paid A$173.55, tracked payment A$159.99, cashback A$207.99. Used Vanilla Visa GC

  • Pay $229 but only tracked 207.99, i bought 2 year max with port forwarding add on. Is it cash back not included add on?

    • My kontolences…

  • paid $164, tracked $206.84

Got email from Topcashback US that my previous multiple purchases are not allowed and my account is closed. So, I have to get refunds from PureVPN …

Only once a month for this, guys.

  • How did you guys get around to not using PayPal conversion rate? There wasn't any option for me to change to using my card rate and got charged $172 :(

Edit : nvm just read some others have the same issue. Should have just paid direct with credit card

    • I use Wise card/virtual card. Already put USD balance (convert through Wise).

  • My internet cut out for a second as the transaction completed, and my phone switched over to mobile data.

Hopefully the transaction tracked correctly. It's been 35 minutes and I have been refreshing the Topcashback website.

  • Is anyone else waiting more than 4 hours and is still awaiting tracking confirmation?

    • I waited 9hours

    Didn't get the cashback
Topcashback sucks. I've had this happen more than once.

    • Same here. Now trying to lodge a cashback but they're asking for my order number. Do you know how to get the order number? The only email i got from purevpn didnt have any order details.

      • +1

If your VPN purchase didn’t track, strong suggestion is to cancel within the 31-day free cancellation period they offer. A cashback claim is not guaranteed as then we’re relying on PureVPN’s analytics for attribution. If they deem that your order was attributed to another partner, then your claim will be declined.

  • Anyone got this changed from pending to confirmed?
