Was hoping for a ATX platform but does not look like is possible.

  • Would probably go for the Techfast build purely because of the 4070Ti Super vs just the 4070 Super in the Gala (and the Techfast build is cheaper too)

If you're just gaming honestly 16GB RAM should still be just fine, the 32GB in the Gala is nice but not necessary imo

Just be aware of the whole Techfast slow build time kerfuffle, idk enough to comment on it too much tho

    • Thanks…same thoughts about Techfast slow delivery and wonder if Gala just better to deal with, longer warranty too. The 4070 super Ti is a hook for me, just don't know if it is the correct hook.

I am somewhat certain that with the huge RAM bottleneck in the default techfast build list, overall performance (using 4070s ti) will probably be worse than the other build even though it's 4070s non-TI.

you will most definitely want to option it up yourself with upgrades, see below comment from me.

        • I love how basically everyone down below in the threads are promoting the 32GB RAM upgrade and yet I get neg only.

If you're just gaming honestly 16GB RAM should still be just fine

this is WRONG in multiple angle…
Capacity: Some get reserved for system, Windows itself chews around 2-3GB and a large game like COD would cost ~10G, some games are larger. having anything on the background will make it go over the limit.
Speed: DDR5 8GB per stick uses x16 bit width, not the standard x8 width, and the x8/x16 have different internal structures. The number of banks is halved on x16 width RAM. Banks play a crucial role in RAM performance (the memory controller will try to interleave banks, prioritize using bank that is not busy, so more banks significantly increase the chance of avoiding wait times). Not only is 5200 slower than 6000, but 16GB will also be much slower than 32GB, making 16G 5200 an utter crap choice.

the 120mm cooler is also underwhelming, firstly there's barely any reputable brand do 120mm AIOs anymore, secondly 120mm don't have exciting cooling capacity. Expect it to be louder, and it may lose a few percent (not much) of performance, as Ryzen boost according to thermal status, higher temp = lower boost.

neither company uses high end SSDs, both gonna end up having entry level models in it, not exciting but that's a draw.

upgrading both cooler/RAM in the techfast build will make the final price after discount code $2,217.00

to be fair still seems to be better value than Gala consider higher end GPU.

    • but 16GB will also be much slower than 32GB,

      What does this even mean

I recently upgraded my gaming system from 16GB to 32GB RAM, Cyberpunk went from using 11GB RAM to 16GB during gameplay and I saw a negligible, if any, uptick in FPS.

You're exaggerating the impact of the different RAM specs by such a wide margin it's not even funny. You're delusional if you think the Gala build will outperform the Techfast one.

        What does this even mean

means DDR5 16G will be significantly slower than DDR5 32G in RAM intensive workload (gaming included). Even when they are at the same speed, even if you didn't run over the 16G capacity.

recently upgraded my gaming system from 16GB to 32GB RAM

DDR4 or DDR5? DDR4 8GB per stick could be either x8 or x16 bit width.

if you think the Gala build will outperform the Techfast one.

without the RAM upgrade, it will likely be worse, because bottleneck.

You're exaggerating the impact of the different RAM specs by such a wide margin

it is a big margin. it's fine you don't believe it, it's also okay if you want to promote your thought to others. But I would love if you can be a man of your own word, you said there's no significant impact, then you better use x16 bit width system and never use RAM that's x8 width.

a video demonstrate why x16 width ram is crap
another video demonstrate why x16 width ram is crap
a random video about how much gaming fps gain there is tuning the memory

also, I did say "upgrading both cooler/RAM in the techfast build … $2217.00 …. to be fair still seems to be better value than Gala" now what?

      • I like how you insta neg the thread without spend time read it, or check any videos within it.

I got the techfast deal with 32gb and air cooler upgrades and I'm very happy. But please expect a total of 15business days (ie: ~20days) to avoid disappointment :D

    • How do you get the air cooler upgrade? Techfast only shows me upgrades to 240 360 etc

      • +1

I sent an email to their support team before ordering. And they came back with a couple of air cooling options. Nothing crazy as they try to avoid the heavier ones due to the risk in transport but I really wanted to avoid liquid cooling.

I'd go for the techfast build then upgrade to 32gb 6000mhz cl30 RAM when a good deal comes by then sell the 16gz 5200mhz on the marketplace

  • It depends on what res screen too, I'd go the 4070ti (I currently own one) and its a best of a card. Add 32GB of ram and then it should be solid for years.

Thanks everyone for your considered comments. It has helped me alot to solidify my thinking. I was always leaning towards Techfast offering due to Super Ti gpu but real world experience, components and upgrades I needed to hear from OzBarginers to give me confidence. Spending over $2k on a PC is a really big commitment for me and it is to fill the needs of my son who is a very serious gamer with big plans. I first looked at components to build one but can not build one for the Techfast offer. So thank you for your time to comment. Oh by the way forgot to mention system will be hooked up to a 1440 monitor.

    • Perfect system for 1440p with headroom too 👌

  • I believe you can upgrade the ram for 89 to 32gb on the techfast one if you're concerned about it. And the warranty thing, ACCC can override the 1 year warranty
