Bankwest More Credit Card with Lounge Access (10 Dragon Pass)

Hi all, my Amex travel explorer is up for renewal and I’m considering not renewing it. The Amex velocity is currently not available and that seemed better value.they are revamping that one but still no details.

In any case I’m thinking of getting the BankWest one as me and family are going for trips overseas over the next 6 months. It sounds like the travel insurance is included as long as card is active and allows additional cardholders.

Also the 10 lounge dragon passes can be used by the additional cardholders. Overseas free transactions which will allow me to earn points.

Does anyone have this card? Seems good value at $270 a year.

  • Amex Plat is way better value depending on your monthly spend.

    • I got confused, I have the travel explorer. Mostly for the points and the lounge, but you only get 2 passes a year.

        Have a look at your annual spend and see if the Amex Plat may be a good option. It represents extraordinary value (if you spend enough) whilst offering unlimited access to the Virgin Australia lounge for up to 10 people (each time by leveraging additional card holders).

        • Cheers I’ll look into it

        • As a rule of thumb, what would be the monthly spend to make this card worthwhile? $10k?

            @mskeggs: Have a look here: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/card-value-calculator/

            You just enter your annual spend using the filter section. Then, for each card if you select “earning” you’ll see the $ value of points (in terms of flights) you’ll get for your spend.

            On $10K spend per month, that’d net you $3,240 worth of points a year which easily offsets the annual fee and as such the benefits of the card are a bonus.

              @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: Thanks, I have always assumed you need to be putting $100k+ per annum through the card for those sort of fees to be worth it, but I guess it is a fair but less.

    Slightly worrying the overseas transaction charge says 'waived', which sort of implies they could change it with little notice.

    Anyone who can comment on whether the 'more rewards' program is any good?
