      Drank it with locals in Japan. There are plenty of better whisky.
      Luckily we have different tastes.

          @adam149: Yep, I tried it last time it was on special and it's very nice for its price point. It's $56 at LL right now, not $66 and I'm happily grabbing another bottle. Great whisky for that price.

            @Fappo: Actually, it was the Kurayoshi Tottori I was thinking about, not the Toki. I think I tried Toki a while ago and didn't mind it though 🤷‍♂️

              @Fappo: The Tottori is another good cheapy. Closer to a scotch imo. But once again perfectly drinkable straight, doesn't have to be a highball/mixer. People put on this false bravado/snobbery but they are perfectly acceptable. I have had whisky that costs hundreds more so I'm no noob.

                @adam149: The Tottori was a little more complex and interesting from what I remember, but I had a dram of the Toki last night and it's perfectly decent. I'd buy it again for <$60 for a 'cheap' swiller.

                  @Fappo: having some Toki now… very decent. A bit of bitterness in the backend from the barrel I suspect. Has some similarities to Chita.

                    @adam149: Yeah, there's a bit of oakey bitterness on the finish. Nothing unpleasant though; it's quite nice. Anyone who thinks this whiskey burns like rocket fuel mustn't have tried or enjoyed too many properly strong whiskies 😄

                    I haven't tried Chita or any Writer's Tears.

  I grabbed a bottle of Ardbeg 10 from them yesterday for $84. Pretty decent price.
