    Same price via Amazon (Prime).

  • Has anyone got the next best deal for a non prime, non costco member?

    • +5

      Prime is not needed

I just price matched with Amazon at Officeworks yesterday, bringing the total down to $283.10.

    • Great price.

    • Thanks for sharing this. It reminded me to do the same and paid about the same…maybe a few dollars less.

    • Where'd you pricematch from?

      • Cex from the image 😂

        • Cut us some slack mate it's like size 0.01 font off a heat printer😂

@Cheaplikethebird: I didn't laugh at you, I laughed at the JB worker who matched the price of used buds 😂

  • Waiting patiently for AirPods Max to drop under $699

      Pricematch this with Officeworks.

Use with gift cards from Woolies tomorrow (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/871531)
Use with OnePass 2.5% worth of points (it was better value during this promo https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/866775).
      TRS if applicable :)

      • Thank you so much!

      • Wow that's really good price! I'm guessing this isn't the AirPods Max 2024 right? it would be the original AirPods Max.

        • correct! from what I saw, the 2024 just has new color and a usb-c port.

          • @Oauiii: Yep, that wasn’t the only thing where it got a coat of paint but internals are new. The Air Pods Max did get a USB-C connector I think?? If they do, they may have a different part number unless I am misremembering. But again different part just saying. Apple recycled a few things this year in a slightly updated case.

The Air Pods Max are in a desperate need of an update. AFAIK They didn’t update the Air Pods Pro Gen 2 with MagSafe and USB-C either afaik. There are some new software features coming but it’s likely to be a firmware download.

Both devices need something with more bandwidth than Bluetooth 5.1/5.2 in them - use their H2 and a higher bandwidth signal for lossless HiFi audio maybe?

Just as a general comment, my personal recommendation is Definitely get AppleCare+ on your AirPods Pro Gen 2

If you are a heavy user as the batteries cannot be replaced and Apple should but won’t always give you a battery replacement in their 2nd year.

AppleCare+ on a month to month basis will last as long as you keep paying so if you plan on keeping your phone for more than 2-3 years, $17.99 a month is the Theft and Loss coverage for the IPhone Pro 14 - not sure if the 15 or 16 are more expensive. But my iPhone 14 Pro 256GB is only just over 18 months old, battery life is down to 86% and the Home Screen resprings regularly for no apparent reason.

Apple say they can’t find anything in the diagnostics but this is the third phone I’ve had to get replaced at the ~18 month mark where I got my iPhone 6 Pro, 8 Pro and now 14 Pro replaced and I’m 180KM from the closest AppleStore. The Advanced Parts Exchange where they will sell you a new device so you can copy every across at your own leisure. (You have 7 days to return the faulty one)

Even if I end up buying a 16 Pro in a few months, I will have almost new, factory refurbished phone that I can either sell, keep as backup or trade in. Mind you, with a Otterbox case, Bellingham Shapphire Glass Screen protector and lens protectors it’s still in mind condition. Sorry got off track.

Also had AppleCare+ on my AirPods Pro Gen 1, they developed the crackle and they still replaced them well outside the 2 year warranty. I’ve definitely had my worth out if previous AppleCare+ costs.

Each to their own but the cost replacement of the OLED screens themselves - you only have drop it once and yes there is a small excess, it’s worth it. For someone who got scr3wed badly on my iPhone 4 which was 64 days out of warranty purchased in 2010 and I found out later Apple had up to 90 days to replace it at no cost, no they charged me $220 iirc for a refurb when it was a hardware fault.ACL has been around for 13 yearsi, I encourage people to use it.

      • Thank you so much once again. Initially they said you can only use gift cards instore (not on phone through price match). Thank God they had 1 last pair near my store (nowhere else!) so I got them. So much savings when I was going to do so for $692 and I probably ended up getting it for around $600!!! And I can still add AppleCare!

        • +1

anytime! I also got apple care since i'll be using it a lot :).

          • @Oauiii: Funny I had these and buying again cause previous ones didn’t! Thanks same yeah I’m def getting AppleCare on these. Thankfully got old ones replaced (they literally didn’t work) under “battery replacement” for $170 but only 90 day warranty so will pass those along to family

            • @v7dal: AppleCare+ definitely worth it on AirPods but also on iPhones and iPads depending on “how you treat your gear”.

Thank you just price matched for cheaper at officeworks (Doncaster for those playing at home) $280.24 inc gst

  • i must have the older gen but whats the deal with the holes in this case apart from the charging hole, its like some small speaker hole or something?

    • Yeah I believe with Find my phone you can get it to play a tone to help you find them.

      • oh wow thats cool! ahahahah not that i lose the case but yeah that comes in handy :)

Bluetooth earbuds for only $300 wow what a deal!
    Apple tax.

    • +1

Samsung also selling buds for $300+ so it's not just Apple taxing us.

      • Oh definitely, but apple tends to be more egregious and has been for much longer. Samsung has been disgracefully following along with unreasonable prices of late.

Officeworks lowered their price to $294.

    • Dam I just got these at $330 last week. Will officeworks give me the difference back?

      • +2

Nope, they're the absolute worst retailer for price guarantee. The staff is arrogant and will tell you that their price always changes. The only way this would work is if you haven't opened it so they'll have to return and resell. Or return at one store and repurchase at another.

        • Ah thanks mate!

    • They just priced match dicksmith online price for me, which is currently a dollar cheaper , so I got it for $278.35

      • I see dick smith showing the AirPods for $293 , how did you manage to get them to $278 ?

        • +1

At officeworks with their 5% price beat

          • +1

@kerodean: Considering doing this or waiting till Black Friday sales.

            • @Dos3377: Yeah there might be better sales black friday I kinda needed a new pair sooner though

      • Odd because Dick Smith were brining in HK grey market at one point. Different model number.

        • I think it depends on the team member who you get. The person I got seemed a bit rushed and didnt check too clearly. Some people have even price beat with CEX which gets it to like $235~

  • would I like these if I don't typically like in ear buds? I've only really tried quite cheap ones and just end up with a sore ear

    • You might find better comfort using foam tips rather than the provided silicone tips. You can get a pack with different sizes to try from Amazon relatively cheaply

      • second this.. foam tips will be much more comfortable but you may need to replace them more often than silicone ones. I've found some pretty decent third-party silicone ones that fit and feel better than the originals and don't leave me with sore inner ear or inner ear skin irritation.

    • IMHO I would avoid. I bought them and passed them off and just got Max’s. they are really irritating, had my ears ringing and itching (and I always play volume less than 60 dB. I had to restrain my usage but thankfully now I can enjoy AirPods Max long term for a long time!!

Also this is just my personal opinion ^. Also imho for sound (especially Spatial Audio with Apple TV) and noise cancelling max are far better than Pro’s anyways

  • I've owned dozens of headphones, always trying to get best bang for my buck, and these are the best I ever owned.

  • I’m not sure whether to call my Officeworks store or their price match number. I don’t have OnePass, and unless the stores around have the gift cards, down one downside of living in a regional city. I’ll just try and use the Costco membership. Do you need to show your card?
Oh wait, Officeworks already dropped their price so no saving to be had. :-/ ?

    Or did I misread something?

    Thanks.

    • I just went to my local Officeworks and they price matched the updated Costco price.
The lady at the counter did not check my Costco membership but did check that it was in stock on the Costco site.

    costco now dropped to 289.99

  • Amazon.au matching Costo price of $289.99. Get it price matched at Officeworks if you're quick. I just went for a quick drive this morning.
