When Is The Google Pixel 9 Pro Launching?

Hello, Pixel 9 pro enthusiasts,

Any news or updates on when Pixel 9 Pro is going to be available in Australia? I am getting restless as my phone may die anytime now.

@HardlyNormal: Are there deals coming soon our way?
I noticed that Jb-hi-fi has now removed Oct 24th as an available date from their website.

@Hardly Normal: Any updates from HN on this?

    • Any specific reason why this is being negged. Want to understand so I do not repeat a mistake again.

      • Dunno.. Did you call them or jump on the chat and ask? From experience they wouldn't know anyway (I asked JB once and no info). Just wait a week but not a good sign for pre-order deals.

        • Yes the pre-order deals is what I am hoping to get. HardlyNormal did say that HN would be having some deals for Pro. All we can do is wait.

  • The Pixel 9 Pro is "coming in Spring" (start of September to end of November).

It's October 24 if you look at JB/Vodafone/HN

  • +1

Taking forever, JB hi-fi has always stated 24 Oct.
No mention of gift voucher value or bonus trade value, you'd expect a similar deal to the P9/ProXL.

Fwiw JB seems to have changed trade in partners from SquareTradeUp, when I started an application it was saying $390 trade value for P8 128gb.

Lost interest. Jumped on the S24U deal instead a while ago.

Wow, you're in luck, I just so happen to be sitting here rubbing my pair of crystal balls…

Because it's shitposting… I thought I would utilise the best in shitposting reply mechanisms…

    Gemini has this to say…

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is expected to be available in Australia later in Spring. This means it should be released sometime between September and November.

While there's no exact date yet, you can keep an eye on the Google Store Australia for updates:

    Google Store Australia: https://store.google.com/au/product/pixel_9_pro?hl=en-GB
You can also check with major Australian carriers like Telstra, as they often offer the Pixel 9 Pro on plans:

    Telstra: https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/g…
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    ChatGPT says:

I don’t have real-time updates, but you can check the official Google Store or local tech news sources for the most accurate information on the Pixel 9 Pro's availability in Australia. It’s usually announced during Google’s product events, so keeping an eye on those dates can help too!

    Magic 8-Ball says;

    Concentrate and ask again

    So, for science, I did…

    Ask again later

For a post he is not happy with, he did spend quite a few moments of his life. So I appreciate that.

  • I was going to use some vouchers for 9 pro but Think I'll just use the S24U for a year and could save them for the P10 pro.

I'm a bit torn between big and compact phones now, don't mind the extra screen size (and larger battery to go with it, Snapdragon CPU better etc). Camera, productivity & ergonomics easier on pixel (have the 8, battery not that great considering small phone). Using mostly google apps ans easy to ignore the Samsung stuff.

JB: Available 24 October from 12:01am!
HN: Coming Soon! Available from 24th October 2024!
    OW: Order from 24 October

    • Yes it's been on the JB website as 24/10 for about 2 months.

      • +1

It was removed at some point but only brought back recently

        • Was back 5 min after the OP posting haha.
No need to get too excited anyway yet, still no pre-order deals advertised.

  • I'm in the same boat, I've got notifications set up on Ozbargain for the Pro and have been checking Reddit regularly. I just saw some news headlines today that India can pre-order from Oct 17th, hopefully that means an announcement for Australia in a weeks time (fingers crossed).

My Pixel 3 has been fantastic for the past 5 years but now the USB C port is wobbly and only charges with a cable at certain angles while being held in, at least the wireless charger works albeit very slowly. Battery life is subpar now, security updates are a worry too, but otherwise the phone is mint condition!

Thinking twice about the Pro XL now.

    • Jesus you're controlled. I loved the 3XL, better screen and speakers than most modern phones still.
Was a bit bendy, and battery terrible after a year or two but you've put up well.

  • +1

That's the "problem" with the 3s, too good to just upgrade willy nilly to something that's only slightly better. Sales assistant at JB many years ago told me to go for the Pixel 3 for the great camera and speakers at the time.

I could probably hold off until a Pixel 10 but I am in need of some retail therapy, it's worrying how the brain gets so addicted to the thrill of the chase when you're after a certain product. This, however is my one and only vice so **** it I'm treating myself I deserve it!

The 9 better be good 😊

    • Mate the support and security updates ended years ago for the 3. Was good but not amazing couldn't get more than a day out of the batteries.

  • Cant wait!

@HardlyNormal: Would HN be posting any new deals on the 9 pro?

    • +1

      🤫🤫🤫

      • +1

        Is that a good shhh!?

        • Does HN do trades or just offer on a plan?

          • @G-rig: we definitely trade in

            • @HardlyNormal: Hmm got a pixel 8 128GB sitting around I don't know what to do with.

              • @G-rig: You might have a decision to make in 2 days.

                • +1

@Sammy2000: Will see if the deals are any good and assess it then. Bought an S24U so I'll probably keep that but may be easier selling a P9 pro than the P8.. otherwise waiting for the next eBay fee free sale. Also got a good amount of JB vouchers but can use next year p10 pro.

Kind of don't mind the bigger screen now but obviously not as good one handed operation. The pixel batteries don't seem that good for a smaller phone either.

                  • +1

@G-rig: Smaller phones tend to have worse batteries, not better. The additional screen is offset by a bigger battery in most larger phones (and tablets)

                    • @NotSuchABigMac: That's what I said, but you'd expect similar/relative as the larger phones have bigger batteries but gobbled up by the bigger screen.
It's also to do with the CPU. Snapdragon is better apparently.

              • @G-rig: our values aren’t bad but keep in mind the device assessment is done through asurion. sometimes we have nuts trade in deals like trade in ANYTHING for $1000 off pixel fold, but we don’t care if you trade in through mobilemonster etc, get better value and use the money here.
tradeinwith.asurion.com.au states you will get $300 if its in good working order.

                • @HardlyNormal: Yeah JB have changed from SquareTradeUp to something else, and they quoted $390 for pixel 8 128gb. Not bad.

        • 🤫🤫🤫

  • Saw a pixel 9 pro in the flesh at JB, with a sign saying coming soon 24/10.

    • Yeah same size as the Pixel 9.

Guess you'll all have to wait for another 3 days ha.
Still got a pixel 8 wouldn't mind trading, or just sell next eBay fee free sale and sit on the vouchers for however long.

Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't do any big voucher discounts or on a plan, given people returning phones and trying to rort the system.

      • +1

I got the pixel 9 pro xl since release directly from Google. Pre-order was decent with bonus $450 credit and boosted traded in for my pixel 8 pro.

Hopefully the pre-order/launch bonus will be decent for the 9 pro, we shall find out in the next few days!

        • +1

JB hi-fi would be better, lot of horror stories about Google renegging on trade in phones and their credit expires in a year (JB gift vouchers don't expire).

You should expect a trade in and bonus and gift card.. no mention of pre-release discounts. If they are out in a few days then it won't be a pre-order.

I reckon they may try bundle it on a Telstra plan (or maybe not haha). Hopefully still $300 off RRP or something.

          • +1

@G-rig: I'd be very sad if it's 300$ off RRP, the XL was 1600$ off.

Still got my fingers crossed, and hoping HN comes with a juicy day 1 discount also.

            • +1

@NotSuchABigMac: Well JB have a current promo that finishes midnight tmrw, so maybe they didn't want to start another one concurrently.

Yeah $300 was good when the pixel 7 was a sensible rrp to start with ie $999, then get trade in bonus and GC plus the trade voucher.

I noticed the phone at JB. Shame it has the shiney edges and matte case, looks like they just copied and iPhone 12 or something.

Anyway most people would put a case straight on.

          • @G-rig: It's an $800 gift card if you sign up to the $99 Telstra plan

  • I dropped into a JB earlier and spoke to a rep at mobile.
He was kind enough to share that there will be a good deal tomorrow - in the S24 Ultra range (or exactly that ;)

Will need to find all my gift cards now 😭
